Just want to preface this by saying everything I'm about to write is a rumor - A RUMOR. I just want to be transparent because a lot of people in this thread are talking about multiple things and I hope we can use this post to consolidate all the rumors together. Before I continue, I should also note, some of these rumors are conflicting and you'll have to use your better judgement to seperate fact from fiction:
1. Pricing: Osiris has updated his original leak.
Sony was considering two options for Neo. The current leaked model is penciled in at a retail price of $499. I am assuming the $399 model is out the window. This pricing strategy runs in line with what Andrew House has told Japanese media this week on how Neo is a "High End Premium PS4".
2. Option B is the more expensive Neo configuration.
Osiris went on to say that this machine is still not as powerful as Scorpio, but it comes very close.
"
Option B"; is rumored to be5.5 TF, use an entirely new CPU, and retain the 8 GB of RAM but clocked higher than 220 GB/S. From personal research - and just asking around the internet (IE means absolutely nothing of value)
the rumored price for this new machine is $599 or >. And yes I did just say more than $599.
3. There is a person I've talked to
who is currently working on the Neo and claims - that all of this is heresay and that the original leak of Jaguar, 4.2 TF, and 8 GB of RAM is the final spec of the machine and developers are prepping their stuff for a showcase later on in the year. He claims the machine is $399.
As you can see rumors are conflicting, and I'm not sure whose right and what is wrong. On a personal level, I'm not holding my breath for Sony to suddenly up the specs of Neo to 5.5 TF to compete with Scorpio if it ends up costing an arm and a leg to the consumer. The next few months will be interesting, but with Sony's new found policy around leaks- I'm assuming all we will get is heresay until the official unveil.
And no please don't take this as me making up something out of thin air- I'm just consolidating all the rumors into one post. I don't want to get any one in to troube- I just want to organize the confusion a bit.
ALSO IF ANYTHING IS INACCURATE OR IF I'M MISSING SOMETHING PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Thanks guys.
EDIT:
One last thing, developers have Neo in hand are preparing their games for "Neo" mode. If Sony were to pull a bait and switch I'm sure we would have heard about it by now. As time moves forward and we hear less and less about Option B, the less likely it is to happen.
