Warner Says 'P.S. I Love You' on Blu-ray this Spring

Warner has announced it will bring the Hilary Swank romantic comedy 'P.S. I Love You' to Blu-ray and HD DVD this May.

Grossing over $50 million at the domestic box office, the Richard LaGravenese-directed film emerged as the sleeper hit of the holiday season, despite less-than-kind critical notices.

Warner will bring 'P.S. I Love You' to Blu-ray on May 6 (day-and-date with the standard DVD), followed by an HD DVD version three weeks later on May 27.

Extras shared across all versions include two featurettes ("A Conversation with Cecilia Ahern," "The Name of the Game is Snaps"), deleted scenes, and a James Blunt music video. There were no high-def exclusives reported at press time.

Warner has not yet announced tech specs, but we'll keep you posted.

Suggested retail prices for both the Blu-ray and HD DVD editions have been set at $35.98 each.

Fox has announced a speedy trip to the video aisle for the Katherine Heigl comedy '27 Dresses,' which will hit Blu-ray in late April.

On the heels of its almost $75 million domestic box office run, the Anne Fletcher-directed romance '27 Dresses' will arrive on Blu-ray April 29, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD (and a mere three months after it first hit theaters).

Tech specs for the high-def version include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround. A French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround dub is also planned, along with subtitles in English, French, Spanish, Korean, and Cantonese.
Supplements shared between both versions includes four making-of featurettes ("The Wedding Party," "You'll Never Wear That Again," "Jane's World," "The Running of the Brides"), and a collection of four deleted scenes.

Finally, Fox has revealed the cover art for the Blu-ray, which highlights rising star Heigl.

Suggested retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.98.

'Rambo' Joins Sequels on Blu-ray This May

Confirming earlier reports, Lionsgate says it will bring the recent theatrical hit 'Rambo,' as well as the first two sequels in the series to Blu-ray in late May.


As previously reported, Lionsgate issued an early alert to retailers last month that it was preparing the Sylvester Stallone '80s epics 'Rambo: First Blood Part II' and 'Rambo III' for Blu-ray release on May 27. (Lionsgate released the first film in the bloody saga, 'First Blood,' on Blu-ray back in February 2007.)

The studio has now confirmed the May 27 arrival date, and announced that Parts 2 and 3 will be joined by the fourth (and apparently final) entry in the franchise, 'Rambo,' that same day (day-and-date with the standard DVD).


As Lionsgate has not yet issued the full press details for 'Rambo,' only basic 1080p video and English PCM 7.1 Surround audio specs are known. However, the release is billed as a "Special Edition," so we expect plenty of extras. Watch this space.
Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.98.

Lionsgate Boxes Up 'Rambo' Trilogy on Blu-ray

Announcing yet more Rambo on high-def, Liongate says it will bundle the first three films in the Sly Stallone franchise as a Blu-ray box set this May.

As we've previously reported, Lionsgate has turned May 27 into unofficial "Rambo Day" on Blu-ray, announcing a concurrent release of stand-alone editions of 'Rambo: First Blood Part II,' 'Rambo III' and the recent theatrical release 'Rambo.' (Lionsgate released the first film in the explosive saga, 'First Blood,' on Blu-ray back in February 2007.)

For fans who want to own the entire original trilogy at a lower price, Lionsgate plans to package the first three films together as the 'Rambo Box Set,' also to be made available on Blu-ray May 27. (Oddly, the fourth 'Rambo' is not included in the set, and will remain available only as a stand-alone release.)

Carrying a suggested list price of $49.98, the 'Rambo' bundle will offer a savings of at least $20 compared to buying each title separately. ('First Blood' currently carries an MSRP of $29.95, while 'Rambo II' and 'Rambo III' are each priced at $19.95.)
Note that the 'Rambo Box Set' will be identical to the stand-alone versions, with no new bonus features or other exclusives announced.

The best of Led Zeppelin's legendary 1973 appearances at Madison Square Garden. Interspersed throughout the concert footage are behind-the-scenes moments with the band. The Song Remains the Same is Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden in NYC concert footage colorfully enhanced by sequences which are supposed to reflect each band member's individual fantasies and hallucinations. Includes blistering live renditions of "Black Dog," "Dazed and Confused," "Stairway to Heaven," "Whole Lotta Love," "The Song Remains the Same," and "Rain Song" among others.

Deep Purple: Live at Montreux 2006 (Blu-ray)

Few bands are more closely associated with Montreux than Deep Purple and there was simply no other contender when it came to choosing the act to headline the closing night of the 40th Montreux Festival in 2006. The band duly delivered one of their finest live performances, sprinkling songs from their latest album "Rapture of the Deep" through a set chock full of their classic tracks. There was even a brand new song "Too Much Fun" written especially for the occasion and, of course, a show-stopping performance of "Smoke on the Water".

First Look: 'Orphanage' Blu-ray

With its release date approaching, New Line has unveiled the box art for the acclaimed Spanish chiller, 'The Orphanage.'

As we've previously reported, the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror flick is due to hit Blu-ray day and date with the standard DVD on April 22.

Extras shared across both the Blu-ray edition and the standard DVD include a suite of four featurettes ("When Laura Grew Up: Constructing The Orphanage," "Horror in the Unknown: Make-Up," "Rehearsal Studio," "About the Filmmakers"), a still gallery, and theatrical trailers.

Tech specs for the high-def version include the film's original Spanish language audio in DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 7.1 Surround, Dolby Digital EX 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are also planned.

As previously announced, New Line has set the suggested retail price for the Blu-ray edition at $35.98.

Άψογα. Αλλά από που θα τα παραγγείλουμε? To play.com έχει πολύ λίγα μουσικά blu-ray .

Εκτός από αυτά τα 2 ψάχνω και τo blu-ray της Shakira!!! Δε τα βρίσκω πουθενά ρε γαμώτο παρά μόνο σε Non European sites (πχ amazon.com). Κανένα ελληνικό ή ευρωπαϊκό αξιόπιστο??? lease2:

Τα 2 είναι σίγουρα region free, οπότε γιατί δεν τα παίρνεις από amazon ? δεν αργούν και είναι φτηνά.

Τα καταστήματα που έχω βάλει εδώ πρέπει να είναι αξιόπιστα ... σε μεγάλο Αμερικάνικό forum τα είχαν σαν καλές επιλογές για αγορά BD που δεν υπάρχουν εκεί.

Απλά με μπερδεύει το θέμα region free ή όχι. Ξέρουμε σίγουρα ποιά είναι region free και το αν θα παίζουν κανονικά? Στο Amazon.com που κοίταξα, τα έχει όλα Ζώνη 1, και γι αυτό δεν έκανα παραγγελία

Disney Unveils Full Specs, Box Art for 'Narnia' Blu-ray

Disney has revealed new details for the highly-anticipated Blu-ray release of 'Chronicles of Narnia,' which will hit high-def this May as a two-disc set with hours of bonus features and exclusive content.

As we first reported last month, 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' will make its long-awaited Blu-ray debut on May 13 as one of the most eagerly-awaited next-gen releases of the year.

Full specs are now in, with Disney porting over all of the bonus features found on the previous two-disc DVD special edition of the film. Among the numerous extras are two audio commentaries (the first with the filmmakers, the second a cast track with the film's young stars), a seven-part "Creating Narnia" documentary ("Chronicles Of A Director," "The Children's Magical Journey," "Evolution Of An Epic," "From One Man's Mind," "Cinematic Storytellers," "Creating Creatures", "Anatomy of a Scene: The Melting River"), an additional three-part "Creatures, Lands & Legends" feature ("Legends In Time,""Creatures Of The World," the "Explore Narnia" Interactive 3-D Map), and a "Bloopers Of Narnia" gag reel.

Although the studio indicated in early press materials that 'Narnia' would include picture-in-picture content, no such feature has yet been announced for the Blu-ray. However, exclusive to the release will be the new "Battle For Narnia" interactive game, which will make full use of the format's BD-Java capabilities.

Disney has also confirmed that the Blu-ray will feature the 135-minute theatrical version of the film (not the 147-minute extended version made available as a separate DVD release), which will be presented on a BD-50 dual-layer disc in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround (48kHz/24-bit).

As previously announced, the studio has set a suggested retail price of $34.98 for the Blu-ray.

The Video: Sizing Up the Picture
'I, Robot' features a jaw-dropping, reference quality 1080p/AVC-encoded transfer that easily solidified its place as my go-to demo disc of choice. The washed-metal palette of the film inhabits the screen, effortlessly rendering faultless fleshtones, dazzling primaries, and revealing shadows. Fine object detail is exceptionally sharp, boasting crisply defined edges and extensive texture clarity. I would offer a selection of showcase scenes, but I may as well begin at the opening titles and direct you to examine every shot that passes on your way to the end credits. The real kicker is how pristine the image actually is -- there isn't a hint of compression artifacts, color banding, source noise, or edge enhancement. Just how clean is the picture? Grain levels are more steady and inconspicuous than in any other filmic transfer I've reviewed.

Best of all, contrast is bright and welcoming, deepening the image and creating a wondrous, three-dimensional "picture window" effect. The illusion is utterly convincing.
It's rare that a video transfer actually improves upon the tone of the film, but I can't imagine watching 'I, Robot' any other way. Stomping the original DVD, outclassing the theatrical experience, and putting other Blu-ray stunners to shame, the Blu-ray edition of 'I, Robot' quite simply delivers one of the best transfers I've ever seen.

Fox Plots 'Point Break' Blu-ray for Summer

In an early alert to retailers, Fox has set a July bow for the Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze cult classic 'Point Break.'

Although the Kathryn Bigelow action caper was not a huge hit during its original 1991 theatrical release, it has since gone on to be one of Fox's biggest catalog sellers on DVD.

The studio has set a long-awaited July 1 Blu-ray bow for 'Point Break,' dubbing it the "Pure Adrenaline Edition."

The Blu-ray is set to share the same extras with the previous standard DVD edition released back in 2006, including four making-of featurettes (with fresh interviews with Swayze and other cast members), eight deleted scenes, and a still gallery.

Tech specs for the high-def version enjoy 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track, and additional Dolby Digital and subtitle tracks in English, French, and Spanish.

Suggested retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.98.
