TGS 2007: Star Ocean: Second Evolution First Look
The sci-fi series spawns a PSP sequel.

September 21, 2007 - This year's TGS was the first time that we were able to get our hands on the PSP remake of the Star Ocean series. While the first title, Star Ocean: First Departure was playable at TGS, the sequel, Star Ocean: Second Evolution, was only available in trailer form. Taking place twenty years after the events of the first Star Ocean, Second Evolution will receive the same kind of enhancements as First Departure. That means brand new cutscenes and 3D movies, additional characters and scenarios, and fully voiced dialogue throughout the entire game.

The trailer didn't really show off any of the gameplay of Second Evolution; instead, it only showed off the characters within animated cutscenes, battling monsters, pulling off killer moves and running away from overwhelming odds. Underscoring the action was what could only be assumed to be the game's new theme song, "Start," although the trailer didn't list the artist performing the track. Nor did the trailer showcase any story or plot elements. We'll have more information on Second Evolution as soon as it becomes available.
