Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment, has responded to a recent Twitter post from Shenmue fans asking for the revival of the series. The post shows fans holding up individuals letters which spell out "Thank you Sony for listening to us. Please #SaveShenmue."
Yoshida was needlessly was impressed by their efforts.
Ever since
GDC 13, Sony has become somewhat a beacon of hope when it comes to the Shenmue series. The idea of being able to play Shenmue 3, on a next-gen system no less, has sparked an online revolution among fans who are now aiming all their efforts at Sony instead of just SEGA.
If there is one series that honestly deserves a second chance, it's Shenmue. The series has pioneered not just free roam exploration but tapped into cultural experiences which can only be seen in Japan or in China. I do hope this series make a come back as I, like many others, wish to see Ryo depart from that deep dark cave.
