Titanfall is Only on Xbox One and PC due to Power of the Cloud, Good Relationship With Microsoft

If you wondered why Titanfall is (at least for now) exclusive to Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, Infinity Ward’s co-founder Vince Zampella has the answer, as he clarified yesterday as part of an interview on IGN.
First of all, the studio seems to have an hoops-free relationship with Microsoft, that facilitated the delivery of the devkits:

The day we announced the studio, an hour later I’m on the phone with our Microsoft rep. ‘We have dev kits. Tell us where to send them.’ There were no hoops to jump through…that’s just the relationship we have.

Of course that’s not all, and Respawn started working on the game without any exclusivity in mind. Things changed when they realized the potential of the cloud feature brought by Windows 8 and Xbox One.

It allowed us to think of the game a little differently. That was the perfect solution.

Looks like Respawn has something similar to Forza Motorsport 5‘s Driveatar in mind, in get the AI to behave in a more “human” and natural way.
Of course, considering the fact that Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida already confirmed that the PS4 has the same cloud-based capabilities, this begs the question on how long Titanfall will actually remain exclusive. It also makes me wonder on how the game will play on Xbox 360, that doesn’t sport the same feature.
Personally, PC will remain my platform of choice for this game, considering that the precision delivered by mouse and keyboard easily wins me over, even if Zampella seems to think of it as an obstacle to the possibility of implementing cross-platform gameplay.

Hideo Kojima Surprised by PS4′s “Cheap” Price, Talks About Comparison with Xbox One and Cameras

Many gamers around the world were surprised by the price point of the PS4. Looks like Hideo Kojima was taken by surprise as well by Sony’s unveiling, as he stated in an interview on the Japanese gaming website Game Watch about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The PS4 is cheaper than I thought.

He went more in depth on the issue as part of a separate interview on 4Gamer, in which he also talked about the difference in power between the two consoles.

The difference is small, and I don’t really need to worry about it. When you come right down to it, the PS4 is cheap (laughs). Though, I wonder about the inclusion of the camera…

When asked about what he thought of the camera-related feature he gave his vision for the future.

Considering that the camera is so widespread in smartphones and tablets, I think it’ll build up to be the norm.

While it’s hard not to agree on the price of the PS4, I do wonder if camera-based gameplay will really become the norm (Kojima isn’t new to rather farfetched predictions, like the one about the disappearance of home consoles). How do you feel about it?

Μιλαμε για τεραστια ξεφτιλα και ενα μεγαλο φιασκο ολη η pre και post e3 για την EA, το τι μαλακιες ακουσαμε παλι δεν λεγεται. Νομιζα οτι ειχαν αφησει πισω τους τις εποχες που γελουσε το παρδαλο κατσικι με τις επικοινωνιακες γκαφες τους. Ξεκινησε ο Peter Moore που αμεσως μετα την conference της MS προσπαθουσε να πεισει τον κοσμο οτι δεν ηξερε τιποτα για το DRM γιατι ειχε ....long flight (seriously, αυτο ειπε) και συνεχιστηκε με μια αθλια εκθεση και φοβερα καραγκιοζηλικια με το Titan Fall.
Btw ο Pachter ειπε ακομα και τα λεφτα που πηραν απο την MS για την partial exclusivity (οπως φαινεται) για το Titan Fall, 50 εκ. δολλαρια.

Αν δεν έχει χαθεί κάτι στη μετάφραση, με προβληματίζει η απάντηση του Kojima σχετικά με τη διαφορά σε επεξεργαστική ισχύ μεταξύ PS4 και XBXone. Παρόλο που η MS αποφεύγει να αναφέρει λεπτομέρεις για ευνόητους λόγους, ξέρουμε απο επίσημες πηγές ότι υπάρχουν σίγουρα οι παρακάτω πολύ μεγάλες διαφορές:

- 8Gb DD3 (με sererved 3Gb) και 68Gb/s + 32Mb ESRAM vs 8Gb GDDR5 (με αγνωστη τιμή reserved) και 176Gb/s

- GPU ιδιας αρχιτεκτονικής ικανή για 768 threads vs 1152 threads

Στα δύο πιό σημαντικά κομμάτια που αφορούν τα γραφικά έχουμε πλεονέκτημα του PS4 50+%. Προσπαθώντας να το δώ εντελώς αντικειμενικά, πως είναι δυνατόν αυτή η διαφορά να θεωρείται αμελητέα???

Οι πιθανές εξηγίσεις είναι οι εξής κατ' εμένα: ή οι πυρήνες στο XBOX One δεν είναι jaguar αλλα ισχυρότεροι, ή/και έχουν ανεβάσει το ρολόγια στην APU του XBOX ή ο Kojima που στο παρελθόν δεν μάσαγε τα λόγια του, πλέον το έχει ρίξει σε PR bullshit... Πραγματικά προσπαθώ να το δώ με αντικειμενικά στοιχεία και καταλαβαίνω ότι ο Kojima φτιάχνει πλέον multiplatform games, αλλα δεν μπορώ να ερμηνεύσω τη δήλωσή του (αν πράγματι την έκανε)...

Τωρα τι να πει για XBOX xs PS? οτι ειναι 50% δυνατοτερο ουτε με σφαιρες.Εδω δεν τα λεει ουτε η Sony αυτα τα πραγματα...
