- Compared to its predecessor, Dark Souls will place greater emphasis on exploration gameplay. The design philosophy of the new adventure is: "If you can see it, you can reach it," meaning castles and mountains in the distance are fair game for plundering, provided you can find your way to them.
- The game has no map, in accordance with the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling the maps are for sissies.
- Unsurprisingly, Dark Souls will be just as tough as Demon's Souls. The plan is to kill you. A lot.
- Dark Souls is not set in the Demon's Souls world--it will feature a brand-new story an open-world environment, not the familiar "hub" world from the first game.
- Level designs will ramp up in complexity.
- Themes on the menu for Dark Souls: "high fantasy of kings and knights," "death and the depths of the earth," and "the flames of chaos." So, King Arthur meets The Core at a party hosted by Reign of Fire?
- Character creation won't be class-based, and there will be a lot of new weapons, spells, and attack animations, allowing for greater customization on the part of the player.
- Co-op and PVP are back, with online connectivity similar to Demon's Souls. You'll still be able to learn from other player's mistakes by watching their failures or reading their messages.
- There won't be Soul Tendency this time around, as the Dark Souls crew doesn't want dedicated servers. Instead, the team wants to introduce something called "mutual roleplaying," which they're planning to explain later on.
" What we do in life echoes in eternity... "
