Final Fantasy XIII & Versus XIII Artwork Released

Ruliweb has discovered some new artwork of Final Fantasy XIII & Final Fantasy Versus XIII that shows some in-depth character design and sketches. The main character of Versus XIII's sword looks half chainsaw if you ask me. Enjoy!

FFXIII and Versus Official Playstation Magazine UK Scans

Official Playstation Magazine UK has Final Fantasy XIII and Versus in their Big 10 Stories this issue with a summary of most of the news we've received over the past year. Because of this, there isn't any new information but there is a huge picture of Mr 33cm's which is much bigger than the official screenshot released. If you've missed out on any of this years news then OPM's article is very useful if you need a quick summary.

British magazine Playstation World Magazine (PSW) has a bit of new info for everyone. There are no new images in the article, so here's guts of new info they wrote about:


"Cocoon's government is using crystals with the power to change man's destiny to force those on Pulse to work against their will. In turn, the citizens of Pulse are rebelling. Their force is led by the only confirmed character so far, a feisty woman who goes by the codename of 'Lightning'.

Apparently the player won't know if he's (Note: I presume by "he" they are talking about Mr. 33cm) on Lightning's side or not until a certain point in the game. One new feature to help develop the story will be a 'split-screen' of sorts, showing different characters in different locations on screen at the same time."


Basically, Lightning is heading up a rebellion fueled by the people of Pulse and the poor treatment they've gotten from the Government of Cocoon. As for the split screen, this will probably be for cut scenes as having a window to other characters on your screen while in battle or running around doesn't particularly make much sense.

Vague FFXIII information reveals use of split screen

A recent report from the British magazine, PlayStation World, dropped a few interesting hints for us to mess around with and speculate and make a sandwich. Sorry in advance -- no new images. We usually try to stay away from spoiling story elements, but in the world of FFXIII we've come to understand that the rebellion against the Cocoon is led by Lightning, the only character we've heard of so far.

The other person we've seen, but haven't been introduced to, is the guy with the blond hair who looks like a mix between Seifer and Cloud (seen in the last new trailer). He has unclear motives for us, the player. We're not told if he's on Lightning's side or not for a long time -- so perhaps he's a villain instead of an ally. Who knows?

An aspect of the game we haven't heard about previously is a type of "split-screen" that shows different characters in different places at the same time. Speculation is that the split-screen function is for cut-scenes, but we think it'll play a slightly more prevalent role. We have no idea what -- it's just our speculation. What think you, masses?

Game Scene Investigation: Final Fantasy XIII

So what's the verdict on FFXIII? We're sure it will set cash registers alight. And we're doubly sure that many of you are holding off on buying a PS3 just for this game. Just don't expect it any time soon. We doubt FFXIII will be coming to the UK till sometime in 2009. We'd like to think development, which was rumoured a while back to be hitting problems, will be given enough time to make the series' debut on the PS3 a memorable one. It looks like a classic FF game, has all the story and character hallmarks of the series, and the combat looks like it could well help convince those who found FFXII's combat irritating to return to the fold. Either way, much is still to be discovered. GSI will be keeping its eagle eye on this one.

Πάμε πάλι... Δεν είναι τίποτα σίγουρο, αλλά...!

Το FF13 Versus θα είναι ένα πιο action-RPG στα χνάρια του Kingdom Hearts, ενώ το FF13 θα είναι το κλασικό RPG Final Fantasy που ξέρουμε και αγαπάμε (με τους απαραίτητους νεοτερισμούς φυσικά).

Στην ίδια μηχανή φτιάχνονται, άρα σε graphics δεν θα διαφέρουν, ενώ οι ιστορίες θα είναι διαφορετικές, απλά θα εξελίσονται στο ίδιο σύμπαν.
