Χθες εβλεπα το King Kong του 1933 που το ειχε στην ετ3, πραγματικα εκλαιγα απο τα γελια. Και καλα τα γραφικα οκ, για 1933 μιλαμε.
Αλλα dammit, DAT performances! Ολοι οι αντρες ηθοποιοι μιλουσαν με στραβωμενο στομα (was that cool or something?), η δε Fay Wray που επαιζε την Darrow εδωσε ρεστα με την οσκαρικη ερμηνεια της, lol.

‘Gangster Squad’ Is Being Recut Due To ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Theater Shooting

Warner Bros. has wasted no time with damage control in response to last week’s horrific Colorado shooting, which took place during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The studio has already pulled trailers for Gangster Squad from theaters, which teased one of the film’s signature set pieces: a behind-the-screen shootout at Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

The studio is debating its next move with Ruben Fleischer’s crime drama – which, it ought to mentioned, is a romanticized treatment of real-life events. While a release delay for Gangster Squad seems like a must (for the sake of sensitivity), Warner Bros. could take additional steps with its response.


Gangster Squad embellishes the efforts of the LAPD to take down Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) during the 1940s, with a star-studded cast that includes Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Anthony Mackie, Michael Pena, Robert Patrick, and Nick Nolte. It’s a violent tale of cops and criminals, based on events chronicled in Paul Lieberman’s “Tales From the Gangster Squad.”
Warner Bros. heads are giving thought to just recutting Gangster Squad so the theater sequence is either significantly reduced or removed altogether, according to Company Town’s sources – who also say the moment plays a pivotal role in the narrative proceedings of Fleischer’s movie. Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has already decided to remove the scene and “is putting reshoot plans into motion.”

Most of the volatile content in Gangster Squad boils down to standard material for the Noir genre. The problem with the aforementioned theater sequence is that fails to qualify as customary content for this sort of film, and its inclusion could prompt accusations that Warner Bros. is exploiting the emotional fallout from the Colorado event (regardless of whether that’s the intention or not).

It doesn’t help that the theater showdown is one of the plot elements in Gangster Squad which is not based on a historical event, and qualifies as Hollywood (violent) fantasy. That’s not to say it’s inconsequential to the story – or that removing it will not compromise the artistic integrity of the final film. It just means that Warner Bros. has a difficult decision to make about how drastic a course of action to take, no matter what.

Keep your eyes peeled for an official update on the Gangster Squad situation – and don’t be surprised if the film gets bumped back from a planned September release date.

Peter Jackson Definitely Wants To Make ‘The Hobbit’ A Trilogy And Talks Have Accelerated To Do So

It looks like Peter Jackson will be making a third Hobbit film after all. At least, that’s what he’s decided he wants to do, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the past few days, logistical talks have “accelerated” between the director, his producing partners and Warner Bros., who would be open to the idea if the finances worked out.

Jackson suggested he’d be interested in a third film a couple weeks ago and has since been figuring out when the production would have to come back to do reshoots, how many of the actors would need to come back, when they’d need to come back, and how much all of that would cost. All of that is almost in order. Read more after the jump.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that if a third film is to be made out of The Hobbit, a decision would have to be made soon but that talks “have accelerated in recent days, with the studio on board if the right financial arrangements can be achieved:”

If we’re going to do it, we have to make a decision soon. It’s strongly driven by the filmmakers’ desire to tell more of the story.

Jackson has already told a lot of story. Besides three award-winning Lord of the Rings films set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe, he released extended versions of each, and always aimed at turning the simpler prequel to those, The Hobbit, into two films (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is scheduled for release December 14 and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be out December 13, 2014. These plans would not change that time table).

If Warner Bros. decides everything looks good, additional filming would take place during the Summer of 2013 in New Zealand for about two months. There are apparently even some more rights issues that would have to be settled if this was to happen.

In a recent article on this over at Deadline, Jackson explained how he can take a book that’s so short and make it not only two books, but three:

…we haven’t just adapted The Hobbit; we’ve adapted that book plus great chunks of his appendices and woven it all together. The movie explains where Gandalf goes; the book never does. We’ve explained it using Tolkien’s own notes. That helped inform the tone of the movie, because it allowed us to pull in material he wrote in The Lord of the Rings era and incorporate it with The Hobbit. So we kept the charm and the whimsy of the fairy tale quality through the characters. Through the dwarves and Bilbo, who is more of a humorous character. He doesn’t try to be funny but we find him funny and find his predicament more amusing than that of Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. That was more serious. So the whimsy is there, but tonally I wanted to make it as similar to The Lord of the Rings, because I wanted it to be possible for the people, the crazy people in the world who want to watch these films back to back one day…
It seems likely that if not by the end of this week, next week at the latest, we’ll get official word if The Hobbit will two films or three. The latter is looking more and more likely, however.

Δεν το διάβασα (γιατί είμαι στρατιώτης και ο στρατιώτης δεν διαβάζει) αλλά τι ακριβώς θα κάνει τριλογία? Τα δύο προγραμματισμένα μέρη καλύπτουν όλο το βιβλίο. Το τρίτο θα το βγάλει από το μυαλό του?

Λέει οτι έχει προσθέσει και πράγματα που δεν υπήρχαν στο βιβλίο απο σημειώσεις του Τόλκιν κτλ που είχε γράψει όταν έγραφε και τον Άρχοντα...
Εμένα και πάλι μου φαίνετε λίγο milking το σκηνικό....
Και οι 2 μου φαινόντουσαν υπερβολικές, αλλά 3; WTF?

Κοιτα... Αν ισχύει αυτο και προσθέσει πράγματα που εχει γράψει ο Τολκιν, ας το κάνει. Μη προσθέσουν τίποτα απο την γκλαβα τους. Εκει θα έχω πρόβλημα...
