You are piecing together what happened on the island, who you are, and what you are doing here and how you can escape, he said. The way it's a bit different from a roguelike is, imagine that I find an important clue, and I die just after that. Progress is still made. You might lose the gun that you found, but the story has moved forward. [The Protagonist] Colt now knows something and the player both knows something important and they need to act on this thing.
Not trying to say too much, but there is a turning point in the game where the progression becomes even more different than a roguelike, he teased. You play that same day over and over, but you don't necessarily do the same things, you are not necessarily in the same places, you don't have the same goals.
The one thing we wanted to make sure is that it doesn't mean that the player is literally on the clock in their moment-to-moment gameplay, he noted. If you want to play very deliberately, very slowly, and take your time, read every note, look at every painting, the game will not punish you for that.
The first thing that it means for games is just comfort, like higher resolution, higher frame rate, things like HDR, some use of ray tracing, etc., Bakaba noted of the next-gen capabilities.
Just having higher fidelity on screen to make Seb's team's work shine in a way that it never did before is really exciting. Of course, I mentioned the frame rate. I think that's something really important. Until now our games and consoles have always been 30fps. Being able to target 60 for an action game, it's very exciting.
It's got a lot of nice features with the haptics feedback, the active triggers. We are a first person game. We really value immersion a lot in our games, he said. Really feel the weapons in your hand, its reaction, how it reloads, how it reacts to reloading, etc... I think that players will enjoy those functionalities.
This is something that we are...extremely proud to be part of, it's something so big. A new generation of console and the launch of them. It's not every time in a career that you have this opportunity. So, we are really thrilled,

https://www.resetera.com/threads/dea...lained.385508/Some additional information from the IGN FanFest stream
- AEON Trinkets imbued with the anomoly can be used to change the properties of your weapons and yourself (jump higher, run faster, lifesteal)
- Slabs can be acquired by killing visionaires which provide you with new abilities
- Powers from the Dishonored series were brought back to help with that feeling of familiarity
- While each visionary can be killed in various ways, killing all eight of them in a single day can only be done in one way, challenge comes in figuring out the puzzle
- Districts and their narrative vignettes change depending on the time of day
A post I made summing things up from all the info released so far if you're out of the loop:
- May 21, 2021 for PS5 and PC (Steam)
- Set on Blackreef (inspired by Faroe Islands), former military base and the site of experiments which puts the island under a time loop, a never ending party hosted by AEON takes place who want to maintain the loop
- AEON is a group of rich, opportunistic 20-somethings who call themselves visionaries and want to live forever
- Once the clock hits midnight, everything resets
- Days are split into morning, noon, afternoon and night
- Colt has to kill all eight targets (visionaries) in one day to break the loop
- As long as one visionary is alive, the loop can be reset
- You can tackle the targets in whatever order you want
- No timer as you explore, clock will move when you move between districts, completing an in-game objective will cause the clock to move forward more
- Julianna hunts you throughout the game, can disguise herself as any NPC, can be controlled by either an AI or human player (remnants of Arkane's cancelled game The Crossing)
- Multiplayer is optional and can be disabled at any time
- One big map split into four districts which you can explore at will to gain knowledge, in pursuit of that perfect loop
- Can't do every single thing in a single day so use your time wisely
- No non-lethal runs, stealth plays a part but isn't the main focus like in Dishonored
- No weapon or power wheels like dishonored, have to choose a specific loadout instead
- 4K 60fps on PS5 with support for the DualSense's adaptive triggers
