Various Japanese outlets like famitsu and Dengeki published their interview with NEO:TWEWY staff.
I will post some of the stuff I read from those interviews.
-The game is a sequel based on the A NEW DAY episode added on the Final Mix. But the story is not a direct continuation so you don't really need prior knowledge.
-The named it "NEO" instead of "TWEWY2" because they didn't want people to feel they must play the first game to understand this one. Also wanted to emphasize this is a new story from the new cast. Of course, if you have played the first one or watch the anime, there will be nice bonuses.
-Can't confirm how many party members can fight at once, but Nomura does mention "it's more than 4"
-As for the combat system, each character equips a pin, and each character is assigned to designated buttons on the controller.
-There are different ways to activate psych for different pins, like just regular press, tapping button multiple times for continuous attack, holding down the button, etc.
-You can press multiple buttons at the same time and the characters will attack simultaneously. For example, you can do combo attack like launching an enemy with one character, and throwing down a rock on that enemy with another character.
-You can set same pin on multiple characters. In this case, pressing a single button on that pin will make both character attack simultaneously.
-They will release more combat related footage in the future so fans can understand the combat system better.
-The new system in NEO is character board(?). It's sort of character relationship diagram with various people in Shibuya. Doing things like story progression, side missions will gradually improve the relationship with characters to unlock skill or get rewards. For example if it's with a shop owner, by shopping a lot in that shop and get to know the owner will unlock skill charts.
-There are many unannounced characters yet to be revealed.
-The game is much longer than the first game. Will probably take around 50 hours to beat the story. There are also a lot of side/collectible stuff, so if you are completionist it will certainly take the playtime to 3 digit.
