    Hellblade announced for PS4, from Heavenly Sword studio Ninja Theory

    The team behind DmC and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West unveils its new title





    Hi, my name is Dom Matthews and I’m the Product Development Ninja at Ninja Theory. It’s a great pleasure to be posting on PlayStation Blog to tell you about our new game Hellblade, which has just been announced at the PlayStation Gamescom press conference.


    For those who aren’t aware of Ninja Theory, we are the UK based developer that created DmC: Devil May Cry, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword.



    Over the course of the last 14 years we’ve developed three key strengths that define our games: ninja-class combat, strong character stories and a unique art vision. In our new digital game, Hellblade, we want to take these three key strengths to the next level. Hellblade will be an experience focused on delivering a deep character in a twisted world, with brutal uncompromising combat.


    We’re calling Hellblade an “Independent AAA” game, by which we mean that it will be developed and published independently but with all the quality and production values of any AAA game on the market.



    Why have we chosen to self-publish this game? Certain types of game are very difficult to make for AAA retail without being watered down or otherwise compromised for a mass audience. This is especially true of sword-based combat games or games of a distinctive style or unusual subject matter. We want to make a smaller, more focused game experience that is uncompromising in its combat, art and story, and deliver this digitally at a lower price.


    The announcement trailer that we’ve just released is intended to give you a taste of the AAA quality that we’re planning on delivering and to also introduce you to the Hellblade world, which is based on Celtic myth. The trailer is focused on Senua, Hellblade’s protagonist as she embarks on a very personal journey through a hellish underworld.



    We have announced the game unusually early. This is a deliberate move: we want to share our development journey with you, the fans; to develop Hellblade right in front of your eyes so you can see just how we go about making games.


    At the heart of this is Hellblade.com, where you can find the latest from development.

    Throughout the project we’ll be sharing developer diaries, concept art, design documents, tutorials and work-in-progress of the game being put together. If you hop over to Hellblade.com now you’ll see some concept art from Hellblade as well as an introduction video to the project. You’ll also see a lot more information about “Independent AAA”, and in the spirit of openness, we’ve posted a lot of documentation on a couple of Ninja Theory games that were planned, but never made it into production.



    To finish my post, I want to say that it is incredibly exciting for me and the team at Ninja Theory to be creating Hellblade. Hellblade is being made for our fans. Fans of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved and DmC: Devil May Cry. If any of our games have found a special place in your heart, then our aim is that Hellblade will too.

    PS4 Timed Exclusive Hellblade Graphics Will At Least Match Quality of CG Trailer

    Matthews revealed that, “Okay, so what you saw was running on Unreal 4, which is the engine we will be using for this game. It’s not real time, it’s pre-rendered, but, that trailer was made in about ten weeks, with our team of about 12 people. So it’s certainly set a benchmark for the kind of quality that we hope to get, and it certainly sets the tone for Hellblade as a whole. So yeah, I think, what our aim is that we will at least match the quality in the trailer with the final game.”

    Eγω λεω να αφησουν τις δηλωσεις, εχουν ανακοινωσει ενα παιχνιδι που ειναι σε πολυυυυυυ πρωιμο σταδιο (στα dev videos προσωπικα εμεινα λιγο μαλακας οταν μιλουσαν για 3 και για 4 ατομα και οτι το παιχνιδι δεν εχει ξεκινησει καλα καλα) και οτι φτιαχνεται απο ελαχιστα ατομα. Καπως ετσι οι εταιρειες σκαβουν τον λακο τους μονες τους και μετα κλαιγονται οτι τους κραζει ο κοσμος. Ασε ρε μαστορα να δουλευτει το παιχνιδι πρωτα και μετα βλεπουμε, ασε το hyping απο τη στιγμη που δεν εχετε τιποτα ακομη στα χερια σας.
    Εδω στο DmC με full production και λεφτα απο publisher, με πολλα ατομα κτλ και το παιχνιδι ετρεχε κακιστα στο ps3, τωρα με indie ομαδα και low budget κανετε τετοιες δηλωσεις? Μακαρι να βγει καλο μιας και εχουν δωσει decent παιχνιδια με ωραια καλλιτεχνικη διευθυνση, αλλα δεν μπορω τις υπερβολες.

    ^^ Συμφωνω απολυτα... οι βαρυγδουπες δηλωσεις πρεπει να λειπουν. Να πω οτι εχει φτιαξει και κανα αριστουργημα η ομαδα οταν ηταν 5απλασια σε μεγεθος, παει στο καλο....

    Hellblade is coming to PC

    Today we are happy to announce that Hellblade will be coming to PC, alongside the previously announced PlayStation 4 version. We’re excited to be bringing Hellblade to PC gamers and welcoming them into the Hellblade development journey. PC offers us fantastic opportunities to engage players in playtesting, usability testing and modding. We plan on grasping these opportunities with both hands to make Hellblade as good as it possibly can be for our fans.

    PS4 loses Hellblade exclusive because consoles are “years behind” PC
    We’re looking at everything we do on this project and figuring out better ways of doing things compared to how the traditional AAA console model works. And consoles are following suit with PC, but I think they’re years behind what things like Steam are doing. If we want to do an open beta right now, it’s a little bit trickier to do that than on PC.

    Πρωτον ποτε δεν ανακοινωθηκε ως αποκλειστικο, ειχαν πει οτι θα βγει πρωτα στο playstation, δευτερον απο το quote βλεπω οτι η ΝΤ δεν εναφερεται στις επιδοσεις, αλλα στο μοντελο του Steam, απλα το συγκεκριμενο site εβαλε εναν click bait τιτλο.

    Οπως διαβασα το κειμενο μου φανηκε σαν να εθεσε απλα για παραδειγμα το steam ως εναν απο τους λογους που ειναι πισω οι κονσολες.

    As of now, Hellblade will be arriving first on PlayStation with Ninja Theory not offering much information as to when it will arrive on other consoles or PC.

    Not every publisher has let us [host a beta], because of the secrecy that goes into consoles and publisher-based businesses. As an independent we have the freedom to do that.
