For those confused about the general meaning of this game, it's a message about freedom of thought. Or rather a symbolic take on what the loss of that freedom could look like. We currently live in a world where people are trying to push their beliefs, ideologies, and political views on to the masses. Telling people what they can and can't think(mind control). The theme of this game is about control and a symbolic representation of people having their freedom of thought and being oppressed by indoctrination(Ideology, political views, beliefs, Social standards, etc.) rendering them from being able to think for themselves, thus becoming a hive mind(crowds of people being controlled) and ultimately an amalgamation of people bound together against their will(the human blob) those who break away from the crowd are left helpless in a society built on that indoctrination(People and limbs falling out of the blob, weakly crawling away and dying) The protagonist represents those who think/live/express freely outside of the beliefs, ideologies, political views, etc of society. He is being hunted down, so that he can be forced to conform to the views of a majority. He tries to free the masses from their indoctrination(attempting to free the blob) but end up getting forced to conform by the Major instead(being absorbed by the blob) The blob struggling to escape alive, while being lured back into a trap by the scientists, represents that the masses who have been so used to being told what to think, how to live, what they can and can't say or express, end up lost and confused once they gain freedom. They've been controlled for so long they don't know how to operate on their own anymore, especially in an oppressive society, hince the blob lost all its limbs as it tumbled down the hill. The pig falls in the same category as the others being controlled, representing those who are indoctrinated. The alternate ending which shows that this whole time, the boy was being controlled from a computer underneath the corn field, which he unplugs and loses consciousness, represents that even though one seeks freedom, they are still being manipulated by something.
