Uncharted 4's multiplayer will be 60fps
And will run at 900p.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Gets Lots More Info on Multiplayer, Story, Technology and More
- There are other mystical abilities (on top of the three that we saw today) that aren’t part of the existing Uncharted games, and that’s why they haven’t been revealed yet.
- Loadouts and mystical abilities were implemented in order to let players match their character to their play style and choose a role.
- Sidekicks take a little bit more punishment to kill than regular players, but they all have health, so they can be killed.
- Different sidekicks have different amounts of health and armor.
- Naughty Dog still did not decide whether there will be custom games in the future, even if they’re aware that parts of the community like them, so they’re discussing about it.
- Besides hats, clothing and other custimization items, you can select taunts.
- Mystical abilities are on the some button as grenades, so you can switch between them.
- Mystical abilities last just a few seconds, and each has a different duration.
- There will be different types of grenades, for instance smoke grenades.
- Some heavy weapons can be bought in the store (with in-game cash that can be earned by playing), and one is the grenade launcher.
- The decision to have the mutiplayer run at 900p was made to make sure that it also runs as close to constant 60 fps as possible, to provide a better multiplayer experience. By running at 900p, you get a 20% increase in performance, allowing developers to do other things on top of having the game running smoother.
- Naughty Dog is researching on what other developers are doing for multiplayer. Many of them have played Destiny for a long time. Meyer actually texted his mom today, because Xur is selling an item he wants (he didn’t specify, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the Zhalo Supercell). He asked her to buy it for him.
- Every time someone comes out with a multiplayer game the team “hammers it pretty hard.”
- Naughty Dog is working very hard to make sure that the peer to peer connection for Uncharted 4 is a really “satisfying” one. The game runs true peer to peer, so there’s no host advantage.
- The matchmaking system is being rewritten to reduce latency for all players.
- Naughty Dog is definitely willing to scrap things that don’t work in their games.
- It’s not out of the question to have levels in the future based on some of the big set pieces from the past games. The team is definitely looking into the possibility. For now the game will launch with eight new maps without revisiting old locations.
- The new hardware and engine allow Naughty Dog to make everything bigger and more impressive. Meyer has seen some things in the game that are “pretty crazy.”
- There will definitely be cameos and easter eggs from previous games in Uncharted 4.
- There was a very small development team working on what the next game for Naughty Dog could be, but as the development of Uncharted 4 accelerated, all of those people started working on that. Due to that, the team hasn’t had a chance to revisit it and figure out what they’re gonna do next. They’ll think about it after Uncharted 4 ships.
- Meyer thinks that the story of Uncharted 4 is really interestin. It’ll allow is to look at all the progression from the previous three games. We’ll peel off all of Drake’s layers, and discover secrets he has kept from his loved ones and even from Sully. That sets the stage for a “really interesting chapter.”
- You have a choice to take different paths through the game, and seeing different things.
- The Last of Us’ AI system was pretty sophisticated in how enemy reacted to the player and were able to flank him. That was brought over to Uncharted 4, and even though the gameplay is a lot faster, a lot of that scripting is very robust, so Naught Dog has been able to retain it for the new game.
- Meyer described the elements of the E3 demo that he feels show the power of the current generation platform: really large draw distance with real 3D models, Drake is attached to physics-enabled objects while swinging by a rope, the next-gen mud, the really wide environment with multiple pathways through it, the fact that Drake can ride and drive a vehicle. It’s a taste of all the features that Naughty Dog is throwing into the game all in one demo.
- Meyer doesn’t think Naughty Dog ever seriously considered killing Sully (of course he was talking about the past games, as we don’t know what we’ll happen in Uncharted 4).
