Need for Speed Rivals, the next installment in the nearly two-decade-old series in development at EA's new studio Ghost Games, will launch on current generation platforms Nov. 19, and Xbox One and PS4 sometime this year, EA announced today.

Those current-gen platforms include Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PCs. The title is not planned to launch on Nintendo's Wii U, an EA representative confirmed to Polygon.

The new game will feature an open world with challenges and collectibles to uncover — similar to last year's Need for Speed Most Wanted from Criterion Games, a studio which will collaborate on developing this new title. However, Rivals has a bigger emphasis on the series' staple Cops vs. Racers modes, letting players play either side and move their respective ranks, unlocking new cars, customization options and pursuit or escape technology to use against their opponents.
Rivals, which is being developed in EA's Frostbite 3 engine, will also feature seamless drop-in, drop-out racing with online friends using a feature called AllDrive, letting friends appear in your open world to race, chase or evade either alongside or against you. Players will unlock new aesthetic and performance boosts as they earn "Speedpoints" by running down racers or eluding the fuzz, depending on which of the two roles they decide to fill.
The game's multiplayer component will also be powered by Autolog, letting players compete on live leaderboards and issue challenges to one another.

Για να δουμε θα γυρισει σε hot pursuit? γιατι το most wanted ηταν απλα καλο για εμενα δεν ηταν τοσο challenge οσο το hot pursuit ή το the run.

Καπου πηρε το ματι μου στο neogaf οτι δεν θα βγει στο launch τελικα, νομιζω αρχες 2014, sorry δεν μπορω να βρω λινκ τωρα. Παντως graphically ειναι πολυ εντυπωσιακο το παιχνιδι αν και αν δεν κανω λαθος δεν αναπτυσσεται απο την Criterion.

^^Επειδή προβληματίστηκα με το ζήτημα , η Ghost Games είναι ένα νέο studio της EA που ανέλαβε όλα τα επερχόμενα NFS, και αποτελείται - μεταξύ άλλων - από πρώην μέλη της Criterion.

Played on the PlayStation 4, Need for Speed Rivals is a more visually impressive, though currently slightly more buggy, version of Electronic Arts' upcoming racer than the Windows version.

We spent the first part of our session playing the Windows PC version of Rivals, which ran well, with a PlayStation 4 controller. Later, we switched to the PS4 version and were surprised to find a game that looked even more impressive than its PC counterpart, with better texture detail, improved lighting on cars and sharper graphics overall. The PS4 version did suffer from a higher incidence of issues such as parts of the world failing to load, but developer Ghost Games assured us they would have those problems ironed out in time for launch.

next gen racing τίτλος στα 30 καρέ το δευτερόλεπτο? μάλλον για ανέκδοτο μου μοιάζει,
εκτός κι αν επειδή δεν σήκωνε 60 το xbone θα φάμε κι εμείς αναγκαστικά τα 30.

Bγηκε και η τελικη αναλυση απο το digital foundry. Σε γενικες γραμμες η ps4 εκδοση ειναι ανωτερη απο του xbone και πολυ κοντα στην ultra του PC που και παλι εχει την καλυτερη εκδοση εστω και με διαφορα στηθους.

Assessing all the options in the console space, it's undoubtedly the PS4 that has an edge over the rest in visual quality. Added effects such as higher-grade ambient occlusion and depth of field are a welcome bonus, where Sony's platform manages to match results on PC at its highest settings. Elsewhere, although the PS4 and Xbox One versions trail behind PC in terms of object density and shadow filtering quality, the differences between all three are ultimately minor enough to be imperceptible during any high-speed race, making either next-gen option a well-reasoned pick.
But we can't overlook the performance issues here. While there's a readily handy fix available, it's unfortunate that 30fps play is not only a fact for the console versions, but also on PC by default. Equally disappointing is the nagging frame-pacing issue that kicks in across all releases, making motion feel uneven during sharp turns. Ghost tells us that another patch is in the pipeline to pip this, but in the here and now Need for Speed: Rivals doesn't best serve itself in delivering a fluid 30fps racing experience.

Ειναι το παιχνιδι με τις λιγοτερες ισως διαφορες, καμια σχεση με Battlefiled και COD.
Aναφορικα με την αποδοση, εχει θεματα framerate (κι εγω νομιζα οτι θα εχει μονο η current gen οταν εκανα το review) ακομα και στο PC εχει frame rate drops οποτε προφανως δεν ασχοληθηκαν οσο επρεπε παρα ειναι θεμα hardware. Γενικα παντως απο αυτα που ειδα απο την current gen και τα videos της ps4 εκδοσης το παιχνιδι εχει τεραστια διαφορα στα γραφικα. Οποιος το σκεφτεται και παρει ps4 γνωμη μου να περιμενει λιγες μερες και να το παρει εκει.

Καλησπέρα, αγορασα μέσω store το nfs rivals, κατέβηκε το έκανα εγκατάσταση, μου έβγαλε στην αρχή να κάνω τα 2 tutorial στο game και αφου τα έκανα, μου έβγαλε screen in game για installing του παιχνιδιού. Είναι φυσιολογικό ? Επίσης το install πάει παρα πολύ αργά, σε φάση 1% κάθε 5 λεπτά

Τελικα, παιδια, δεν πήρε κανεις σας το παιχνιδι ή απλα δε σας εκανε εντύπωση; Διότι, μετα το καταπληκτικό Hot Pursuit, σκέφτομαι να παιξω άλλον εναν NFS τίτλο.
Οσοι το εχετε και εχετε παιξει και το HP, ποσο κοντα ειναι στη φιλοσοφία τους τα παιχνιδια; Το οτι ειναι open world με προβληματίζει...

Εγώ το είχα νοικιάσει τη μέρα που αγόρασα το ps4 (κατα τον Ιανουάριο) και μου φάνηκε πολύ όμορφο, κλασικό χειρισμό nfs και με αρκετά μεγάλο χάρτη. Βέβαια έχω να παίξω nfs από το underground :-P Σε κάποια φάση με κούρασαν τα κυνηγητά με την αστυνομία, μάλλον γιατί δεν είχα μάθει τα κόλπα του παιχνιδιού! Αν δεν είχα να παίξω τόσα games αυτή τη στιγμή, λόγο έλλειψης χρόνου, θα το έπαιρνα σίγουρα σε κανένα καλό price drop.

Το έχω στο ps3 έβγαλα και το πλάτινουμ καλό σαν παιχνίδι μιας και δεν έχει τπτ από racing νέο.Σαν το HP είναι.
