Ο Cerny καλο παιδι ειναι παντως, ενταξει.Τελικα περισσοτερο σε serial killer μου φερνει.Πιανει 2 συμφοιτητριες του, τις παει σε μια σκοτεινη καλυβα σενα δασος...τις δενει...τους κανει μια ομιλια για το που σκεφτεται να παει το gaming...αυτες αρχιζουν να κλαινε...τις πλησιαζει...και χραααααααατς ....

Εχω δει την συγκεκριμενη συνεντευξη εδω και καιρο, ειχε ποσταριστει στο neogaf καποιες μερες μετα το meeting αν δεν κανω λαθος. Πραγματικα ενας πανεξυπνος ανθρωπος που του αρεσει να το παιζει clumsy tech freak αλλα στην πραγματικοτητα εχει φοβερα social skills περα απο το ταλεντο του σαν designer. Συμφωνω κι εγω με τα παιδια, χαιρομαι που ειναι lead architect μιας και ειναι game designer αλλα και tech guy ταυτοχρονα και φοβερα ταπεινος ανθρωπος, χωρις πολλες φανφαρες και ντουντμπρο stuff.
Η αληθεια ειναι οτι πριν το meeting δεν τον ηξερα, οπως και οι περισσοτεροι που ειμαστε καπου στη μεση ηλικιακα ως gamers, αυτο νομιζω τα λεει ολα για το πως δουλευει. Αλλοι εχοντας καταφερει το 1/10 απ οτι αυτος στην βιομηχανια μοστραρονται καθε μερα ως κατι το εξαιρετικο.
Τελος νομιζω οτι ειναι ο καλυτερος front man που εχει παρουσιασει η Sony μεχρι σημερα (on stage τουλαχιστον), καμια σχεση με Χαρισον για μενα, με Καζ, με Jack Tretton (καλος αλλα οπως εχει πει και Val παλιοτερα ακουγεται λιγο σαν η φωνη των μετοχων), καλα με τους αντιστοιχους της MS ουτε καν.

Πραγματικα ο καλυτερος εκπροσωπος που εχει ανεβασει η Σονυ στην σκηνη. Ξεπερναει (και μαλιστα ευκολα) και τον Χαρισον τον οποιο εγω εκτιμουσα αρκετα.

ναι αψογος ειναι επικοινωνιακα, εκανε τρομερη δουλεια στην παρουσιαση και μολις ειδα τι εχει κανει στη ζωη του απλα respect. Aλλα με αγχωνε.πως να το πω, ετσι ομορφα και καλα οπως μιλουσε για το ps4 περιμενα να πει "...and now.... everybody stay calm, there's a nuclear bomb in the building...today we're gonna meet our new life....a life beyond borders...far away from this home..." να πατησει το κουμπι του share στο DS4 και μπουυυυυυυυυυυυυμ

εχω την εντυπωση οτι το amazon δεν μπορει να ανεβασει την τιμη σε προ=παραγγελια, παρα μονο να την μειωσει, οποτε βαζει υψηλη τιμη για να ειναι καλυμενο.

So I got an interesting message from the same person as earlier from the third party publisher. He has this information third hand and I'll paraphrase to save time.

Says Sony have never had any used game or online controls. EA's special relationship with MS is a result of this stance from Sony. However all EA games will be on PS4 anyway, but EA and MS are going to step up marketing for Xbone and give (timed?) exclusive DLC/content. His conjecture is that Sony didn't want to spell out their policy until E3 to capitalise on any backlash at MS.

Again, this is third hand information, but he is adamant that Sony never approached his employer with any kind of used game lock proposition and his friends at other publishers say the same.

Sony CEO plays down ‘media hub’ and says PlayStation 4 is for gamers

Sony chief executive Kazuo Hirai said today that the PlayStation 4 will differ from Microsoft’s Xbox One, which is being pitched as an all-in-one entertainment box in the living room.

“I fundamentally believe that the initial market that we need to make sure we appeal to with any new platform … is really the gaming audience,” Hirai said. “They will be the supporters of your platform and they will help propel the installed base.”

He spoke at the D11 conference hosted by AllThingsD. He was joined by Jed York, the chief executive and owner of the San Francisco 49ers, and they talked about the fan experience Sony is helping to create for the 49ers’ new high-tech stadium in Santa Clara. He made the remarks in response to a question from moderator Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal.

Hirai acknowledged the PS4 will have non-game applications. But Sony will not emphasize those at the outset as it did with the launch of the PlayStation 3 game console in 2006. The PS4 is coming out this fall.

He said Sony would add other entertainment apps, “But that’s after we establish the platform as a video game platform. We want to make sure that we are there for the gamers with our PS4 as well. They will go beyond this, but they’ll definitely start with gamer first.

He concluded, “For us, it’s all about the gamers.”

By contrast, Microsoft’s Xbox One unveiling had lots of apps that have nothing to do with games, from using voice commands to change TV channels to using Skype while watching shows.

Kaz Hirai: Sony PlayStation 4 Will Be First and Foremost a Game Player

Where Microsoft has positioned the Xbox One as much as an entertainment device as game console, Sony plans to tout its PlayStation 4 as primarily a device for games.

“The most important thing we need to make sure we do at least initially is that we all agree and understand that the PS4 is a great video game console that appeals to video gamers,” Hirai said in a briefing with reporters after his onstage appearance at D: All Things Digital. “If we miss that part than I don’t think we get the initial establishment of the console.”

Hirai said that formula has worked in the past, including with the PlayStation 3.

That said, there are capabilities in the device that will make it well suited to other uses, Hirai said, without giving details.

“We take a look at this first and formest as a game console,” Hirai said. “We don’t want to end there. That’s an area we will obviously reveal and talk about in the coming months.”

Naughty Dog will use existing Uncharted, The Last of Us engine for PS4

Game director Bruce Straley explained how it won't repeat past mistakes of developing a new engine from scratch for a new console generation, as it did when it started work on Uncharted for the PS3."We learned a big lesson coming from PS2 to PS3," he told Digital Spy. "There was a lot of hype over what next-gen was going to be. It was all going to be like movies, like a pre-rendered cutscene-style fidelity. "That turned out not to be true. Granted, what we're able to do now is pretty damn close, but it took Naughty Dog four games to get there - one of the top developers in the industry with some on the most amazing scientists working in our programming department." "We scrapped everything at the beginning of Uncharted 1, and we had a perfectly good engine with the Jak & Daxter franchise. "Again, we were creating a new IP, with a new engine, with a lot of weird expectations. Nobody had a dev kit soon enough, and as we all know, trying to figure out how to programme for a whole new piece of hardware was really difficult. Straley continued: "We learned our lesson in saying, as we move into development into next-gen, we want to take our current engine, port it immediately over as is and say, 'Okay, we have a great AI system, we have a good rendering system'. "We have all these things that already work. Only when we hit a wall will we say, 'When do we need to change something? When do we need to scale it? "'When does the gameplay, when does the story, when does the world that we need to create - when does this engine hit the wall? Right, now we need to change this part of the engine.' "Hindsight's 20-20, and it sounds obvious to say it, but it's one of those things that you learn in development. We've gained something from this experience, and now we want to apply it moving into next gen."

Αν με αυτή την μηχανή μπορούν να εκμεταλλευτούν πιο εύκολα το PS4, από ότι θα γινόταν με μια νέα μηχανή, δεν έχω πρόβλημα. Μήπως όμως θα ήταν καλύτερη επιλογή μια νέα μηχανή;

Το έχουν ξαναπεί ότι στην μετάβαση PS2 -> PS3 ζορίστηκαν άσχημα, γιατί έπρεπε να μάθουν εντελώς καινούριες έννοιες που δεν υπήρχαν στο PS2 (GPU shaders).

Οπότε υποθέτω ότι αναφέρονται στο GPU κομμάτι του rendering, όμως όσον αφορά τον CPU κώδικα θα χρειαστούν τεράστιες αλλαγές για να ξαναγράψουν SPU κώδικα σε GPGPU κώδικα.
