New Sony PlayStation 3 model suggested in FCC filing

Hawk-eyed FCC watchers over at PocketNews have spotted some curious paperwork for an unknown PS3 model called the "CECH-4001X." The current, existing slimline PS3 is the 3000 series, and it has its FCC label in a different location to that shown in the new filing, leading Eurogamer to suggest that this could be a "Super Slim" variant -- which that site says has cropped up in separate rumors circulating before Gamescom next month. At this point, it's probably too much to hope that magic number "4" represents anything more significant.

Documents have appeared that appear to show a PlayStation 3 Super Slim model.
Documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), spotted by Japanese website Pocket News, reveal Sony Computer Entertainment's plan to release a new PS3 model, labelled the 4000 series.
We're currently on the 3000 series. Specifically, the CECH-4001x model is mentioned, and this could relate to a slimmer PS3, which Eurogamer has heard will be announced at German game show Gamescom next month.
The documents mention that "x" will be replaced by an alphabet denoting the different hard disk specification.
Buried within the various test results and charts is an image that shows the 4000 model with a new FCC label position. This image is above and, below alongside images that show the 3000 model and the original PS3 model.
Sony declined to comment when contacted by Eurogamer.

Άρα παίζει το Blu-Ray drive να γίνει σαν του PS2 Slim (με πορτάκι, οπότε δεν θα γίνεται eject) και ίσως ο HDD να αντικατασταθεί από flash μνήμη... ελπίζω όμως να παραμείνει η δυνατότητα να μπαίνει 2.5" HDD, για όσους το επιθυμούν.

Από ό,τι διάβασα, πάλι 802.11b/g WiFi θα έχει, όχι N.

Ελπίζω να βάλουν καμιά USB παραπάνω, 2 μπροστά και 2 πίσω θα ήταν μια χαρά.

Rumor: New PS3 model photographed

What seems to be a picture of a weird-looking new PS3 popped up on the site of Anatel (the Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications). The image depicts a PS3-labeled device with a ridged texture and what appears to be a sliding panel on top – perhaps indicating a cheaper top-loading disc drive.

We can't access the image directly – the above version is from Tecnoblog – but the database does bring up a document from Sony Brasil making reference to products CECH-4011A, CECH-4011B and CECH-4011C. The latest PS3 Slim is the CECH-30xx series.

Recently, diagrams popped up on the American FCC website also suggesting a new model of the PS3. Sony declined to comment following that discovery, but we're checking in again today.

Εδώ λέει ότι θα βγει και 16GB μοντέλο (μάλλον SSD)... περίεργο πάντως, δεδομένου ότι το 20GB ήταν το minimum που έχει βγει ποτέ.

Ακριβώς το αντίθετο ισχύει φίλε μου, 16GB μνήμη flash έχει τιμή χώμα σε σχέση με τον φθηνότερο σκληρό δίσκο...

Θα μπορούσε να κοστίζει $/€150 αυτό το μοντέλο.

WiFi θα έχει, απλά πλέον το Blu-Ray θα είναι top-loading συρταρωτό και το entry-level μοντέλο δεν θα έχει HDD.
