Posted By: Stephen Johnson - Monday, July 14, 2008 5:33 PM
At the annual Microsoft E3 conference today, Microsoft's senior vice president for interactive entertainment Don Mattrick confidently predicted the future, saying that the "Xbox 360 will outsell the PS3 in this generation."
He said over a billion dollars has been spent on Xbox Live downloads.
After showing off footage of the 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII, Mattrick said:
"[There is] a long list of former PlayStation franchises are now finding a new home on 360. It’s happened with Guitar Hero, it’s happened with Madden and now it’s happening with Resident Evil and Final Fantasy.”
The bitch brings it on!!

SCEA Hides New Game Up Sleeve (Closed Door)
So apparently, on my way to lunch I spot that a bunch of SCEA people are gathering outside those same doors we took footage of for the inFamous gameplay (unshown on video) as seen in this video here.
I asked a woman named Mary M (something) of SCEA, and she told me its a completely different meeting from the one they did yesterday (which we were not allowed to film). I saw a bit of this game as the room opened for the set up crew. Its a man in a black suit…Crysis like…flying? No clue.
A whole new game…why the hell didnt they just show this during the E3 conference? I peer upon the names of some of the exclusive people who are seeing it. Some are barely sites at all and most are from radio or newspapers. Go figure.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/ru...phies-in-2009/Rumor: Sony 'mandating' some unique Trophies in 2009
While not every game may include Trophies for now, at least one major developer tells Joystiq that Sony's answer to Achievements will be "mandated" by Sony for every new PS3 release in 2009.
This isn't entirely unexpected given recently-revised comments by PSN director of operations, Eric Lampel. What's more interesting, however, is that the developer, which is currently working on an early 2009 release, is also hearing that Sony may be enforcing some measure of uniqueness between spoils earned on its console versus the Xbox 360. Commented to developer, "We've heard some things that make it sound like we will have to do some unique to PS3 Trophies...this is all very new to us." While unconfirmed, we can't wait to see to what extent Sony will try to separate its virtual accolades from those on the Xbox 360, or if the idea will simply be enough to make completionists' heads implode.
Europe: PlayTV will launch from September to December
SCEE president David Reeves has said that Play TV will be launching in Europe from September to December and will also hit the UK on September 10th. Reeves confirmed that the PlayTV twin-channel DVB-T tuner peripheral with digital video recorder (DVR) software will allow users to record TV while playing games. Reeves also revealed that they've "got Australia and New Zealand also lined up for it in January or February, because on their digital terrestrial they haven't actually set the standards yet."
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=191896Reeves announced at PlayStation Day in May that PlayTV would cost EUR 99 when it launched in September, but was unable to nail down a date.
http://kotaku.com/5027131/kaz-wants-...time-ps2-salesKaz Wants Lifetime PS3 Sales To Beat Lifetime PS2 Sales
While the PS3 is outselling the PS2 on a monthly basis, it's still well over 100 million units shy of its older brother in the lifetime sales department. But don't let that stop Sony from dreaming about the future! Kaz Hirai is hoping for a day when, all things going according to plan, the PS3 sells more consoles than the PS2 did. FYI, the PS2's sold around 150 million. "It's not fun for me replicating the PS2 numbers. I've seen that movie already," the SCE boss said. "I want to try to see if we can exceed the PS2 numbers after nine years, otherwise why are we in this business?". Because you like the free pens and fancy party foods?
http://www.psu.com/Rumor--Final-Fant...0004313-p0.phpRumor: Final Fantasy VII coming to PS3 and PSN
Posted on July 22nd, 2008 at 19:59 EDT
A continuously revived rumor has been sparked to life once again, with new statements and speculation coming in from all over the net. This megaton rumor regards a potential remake of Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation 3.
To begin, we'll start with the 1up.com podcast interview with Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto where he revealed that a major announcement will be made at the DK3713 Square Enix Event on August 2nd.
"You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713 , where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance," said Hashimoto.
In addition, 1up's Shane Bettenhausen stated, "[The] Final Fantasy XIII on 360 announcement swung the ball towards Microsoft. At Square Enix's Japan event in two weeks, they will swing the ball back towards Sony."
Now you could say this doesn't have anything to do with Final Fantasy VII, but if you were to think of one title that would 'swing' favor back to the PlayStation 3 with a simple announcement, what comes to mind? Perhaps what have fans been dying for ever since the tech demo showcase at E3 2005? Final Fantasy VII.
The last incoming rumor comes from Playstationlifestyle.net. According to their inside source, not only will Final Fantasy VII (either a remake or related spin-off like Crisis Core) be revealed as a PlayStation 3 exclusive at Square Enix's DK3713 event, but the classic PS1 original will be distributed through both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade at the end of the year.
After Square Enix's surprising announcement of Final Fantasy XIII going multiplatform, revealing a Final Fantasy VII title for the PS3 would definitely put love back in the hearts of the PS3-owning Square Enix fans. We're not too convinced by the validity of PlayStation Lifestyle's information however, but at the very least it's a topic to speculate on.
Until the DK3713 event is upon us though, take all of this as purely rumor and speculation. That is, don't fall prey to the hype train that is sure to follow this story. If it's not destined to happen, it won't, and you shouldn't be dissappointed about that. If it is however, you should hear official confirmation in about two weeks time. Stay tuned.
