Square Enix has stated that the PS3 is the best console for them compared to the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

Square Enix referred to their ability to express their imagination when talking about the next-generation consoles.

Square Enix character creator Tetsuya Nomura stated that he believes that the PS3 is the best console for Square Enix to reach the goals and qualities they want in their next-generation games.

Sony Say PS3 Has The Best Exclusives

Sony’s Phil Harrison spoke in an interview and stated that the PS3 has all of the best exclusives.

He talked in great length about the larger PlayStation 3 and compared it to the competitors the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. He stated though that all of the best games with the best technology are going to be exclusive to the PlayStation 3 simply because they are not possible on the competition’s consoles.

Buy A PS3, Get Five Free Blu-ray Movies

The Blu-ray disc association is offering five free Blu-ray movies with the purchase of a PlayStation 3 or other new Blu-ray player.

The promotion is running from July 1st to September 30th and will allow consumers to choose from 22 different movies to go along with their Blu-ray player.

Bioware to Attend E3, Possible PS3 Announcement?

...However PSU would like to add to the hype by speculating that Bioware will announce their PS3 exclusive they've been working on at E3. We first heard about the exclusive when we met with Richard Vogel, Director of Operations at Bioware back at this years Game Developers Conference. He mentioned that a game was in the works and that it would be for the PS3, but other than that was he reluctant to reveal any details.

Sony & Epic Developing an Exclusive PS3 Game.

Last week we reported that, Sony was going to help Epic make the Unreal Engine work better on the PS3. The latest 1up yours podcast has added a bit more fire to that rumor.

On the 1up yours podcast they have revealed that Sony is working with Epic on an exclusive game. Apparently this is in conjunction with the rumor we reported with Sony and Epic working together on the unreal Engine. We are speculating that more details will be unveiled at the game during this years E3.

Σε συνέντευξή του στο αμερικανικό περιοδικό Game Informer, ο Phil Harrison δήλωσε πως δεν είναι ασφαλές να κρίνει κανείς την επιτυχία μιας κονσόλας βασιζόμενος στο launch line-up της. Στηριζόμενος στο παράδειγμα των δύο προηγούμενων Playstation, ο Harrison υποστήριξε πως «με βάση τους λιγοστούς τίτλους που συνόδευσαν τα συστήματα αυτά στην κυκλοφορία τους, κανείς δεν θα περίμενε ότι το PS1 και το PS2 θα ξεπερνούσαν τα 100 εκατομύρια τεμάχια σε πωλήσεις».

Όσον αφορά τις δυνατότητες της κονσόλας της Sony, o Harrison διαφώνησε με την άποψη πως δεν έχουν εμφανιστεί ακόμα τίτλοι που επιδεικνύουν τις δυνατότητες του Playstation 3, καθώς τα Motorstorm, Resistance και Formula 1 συγκαταλέγονται ακόμα και μήνες μετά την κυκλοφορία τους, στα ομορφότερα παιχνίδια αυτής της γενιάς.

E3: Sony's Dille: Xbox 360 Not Sustainable, HD-DVD Dead Within Months



Talking to Gamasutra during a one-on-one interview, Peter Dille, the new senior vice president of marketing for PlayStation, maintained that the 360 cannot sustain itself over a 10 year cycle – and also stated that he believes HD-DVD will be dead within months. Here’s an excerpt of the conversation, which will eventually be published in full:

I feel like now we’re at a 10 year cycle for console profitability for everyone except Nintendo at this point...

Peter Dille: Except Microsoft too!

I’m not saying they’re profitable.

PD: They’re also not 10 year! The first Xbox was around for 4 or 5 years, and then they stopped making software for it.

I’m just saying it’s a longer tail before Sony and Microsoft will make money.

PD: I don’t want to be argumentative, but I take issue with Microsoft either having a long tail, or being profitable, because they’ve never done either. They’ve never made a dime in this business, number one, and number two, they’ve never had a tail. They’ve never been successful enough to have a tail! So the notion of a back half of the curve doesn’t exist for them. They stopped the Xbox and I kind of feel for the guy that bought an Xbox the month before they said ‘we’re out of business, we’re moving on.’

The reason I get a little emotional about that is it’s in stark contrast to our approach. If we’ve got something that says PlayStation, we’re going to stand behind it for 10 years, and deliver games like God of War II in the 7th year of the cycle.

With the Xbox 360 you’ve got an inconsistent design, some have a hard drive, some don’t, and none of them have Blu-Ray, and the HD-DVD will be out of business in a matter of months. Is this a 10 year product? And by the way, it doesn’t even work. Do they want to be selling it for 10 years and refurbishing them all for 10 more years? I don’t think that’s a 10 year product. You could disagree with me, or they could disagree with me, but I’d put that up against the PS3 any day.

Sony To Get its Own "Gears of War" like I.P. from Epic

Half way through this podcast hosted by Zdmedia.net they touch base on the Sony & Epic deal. It is stated that Epic and Sony might be working on a PS3 that deals with the Gears of War universe not necessarily Gears of War 2. The deal that Sony and Epic signed was a multi-part deal, so there could be other things besides the UT3 exclusivity deal.

Silent Hill 5 to appear at Liepzig

I have been chatting with Konami PR, Steve Merrett, and I asked if we might be seeing Silent Hill: Origins in playable form (the new, revamped code) and if anything for Silent Hill V would be shown at the Games Convention in Germany this year. His answer was:

"Both will be at Leipzig – as will I. SHO will definitely be playable, but SH5 will probably just have new assets. You never know, though…"

Rumors - $399 40gig PS3 Coming Soon, FFXIII Could be Delayed Until Late 08, PS3 Achievements


The latest edition of Game Informer magazine finally hit the stands. It contains quiet a lot of juicy new information. They have an exclusive first look at an upcoming game called "Prototype" which is due out on the PS3/360 next year. Details will be published soon.

According Game Informer magazine, a $399 40gig PS3 system is on the way, but it will have no backwards compatibility. They actually expected to hear the announcement at E3 on it. So they may have just heard different rumblings altogether.

FF XIII: Word is the game is a mess right now and the localization process is expected to take a year. The game will not come out in Japan until the end of 08. And finally PS3 Achievements will be available in games coming out this Holiday season will have them. Similar to the 360 where an achievement notice pops up. Not sure if 3rd parties will be required to do the same.

Gears of War στο PS3? (φήμη)

Rumours have been flying fast and furious since 1UP's speculation on a number of podcasts that Epic Games had plans to extend the Gears of War franchise onto the PlayStation 3. Understandably, the comments made in the podcast created somewhat of a storm in a teacup, with many Xbox 360 fans rather unhappy with Epic's apparently lackadaisical approach to exclusivity.

However, Epic's Mark Rein recently contacted PSX Extreme to clarify the situation. In short? Bollocks.

Being blunt, Rein said that the rumour was "complete nonsense". Leaving no room for doubt, he added, "We've shot down this Gears of War on PS3 idea about a hundred times already - Microsoft is the publisher of Gears of War. Unless Microsoft wants to publish it on PS3 then it won't be published on PS3."

Interestingly however, Rein also said that Epic only has two IPs under development - Gears of War for the PC and Unreal Tournament 3. Where this sits in relation to his very recent comments about Gears of War for the Mac remains a little unclear. It's quite possible that the project to port Gears may be further down the line, suggesting that Mac users shouldn't hold their breath. At least not unless they like blacking out.
