Developer CCP Games came out during the Sony press conference at E3 yesterday to talk about their upcoming title, Dust 514. Dust 514 is persistent world FPS that is set in and linked to the world of another of CCPΆs notable games, the space-based MMO EVE Online. In an attempt to create a revolutionary new gameplay experience CCP has created a world where Dust 514 and EVE Online participants will actually interact with each other, with Dust 514 players essentially being the ground war component of the space-based EVE. Players from both games will not have to interact with each other, but interaction will be beneficial to both parties, according to the gamesΆ official website.
Well it seems that now, according to yesterdays press conference visit, Dust 514 will be PlayStation exclusive. You may have noticed that I wrote ΅PlayStationΆ and not ΅PlayStation 3′. ThatΆs because CCP also announced that there would be a PSVita component to Dust 514. They didnΆt say that you would be able to play Dust on the Vita, but said that they would extend the Dust 514 experience to the Vita. No details yet on exactly what that means. We do know there will be a beta in late 2011 and the game is expected to ship sometime around Spring 2012.
