NightCry, the Spiritual Successor to Clock Tower, Gets a Live Action TeaserClock Tower, on a boat?
Project Scissors is now officially NightCry, according to a new teaser trailer for Japanese studio Nude Maker's upcoming Clock Tower successor. The video is directed by Takashi Shimizu, the filmmaker behind Ju-On and its American remake, The Grudge.
Over the course of the video's 30 seconds, it depicts several fragmented scenes, including one of a child tormented by a ghostly being wielding scissors, the trademark weapon of the Clock Tower series' villain.
NightCry is a PS Vita and iOS/Android game under development by Nude Maker, a Japanese studio lead by Clock Tower creator Hifumi Kouno.
Its story unfolds aboard a luxury cruise liner, tasking the player character with solving a series of mysterious murders that leaves the boat stranded in the middle of the ocean.
The game was announced at Tokyo Game Show last September, where Shimizu's role as creative producer was detailed.
Another notable talent on the NightCry team is the original Silent Hill art director Masahiro Ito, who will serve as creature designer.
NightCry's video description mentions an "old evil ris[ing]." Whether that implies a new version of the infamous Scissorman character is up for debate, but it sure looks like him in the trailer.
Also revealed at 2014's Tokyo Game Show was the concept trailer for Silent Hills, another much-anticipated horror game from Japan.
