Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 fired back to top ten sales at Amazon.com on Sun. following the release of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV. The 40GB PS3 ranked as the No. 10 product in Amazon's Video Games division on Sun. after dropping out of top ten sales for several weeks.
Sony last week cited recent sales data from GameStop for the surge in PS3 sales during the GTA IV launch period.
Additionally, the company believes that strong loyalty to the Playstation brand is helping to drive consumers to the PS3.
Grand Theft Auto IV is the next chapter in the best-selling Grand Theft Auto franchise.
The title focuses on Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who travels to Liberty City.
NPD Group Inc. this month reported that the PS3 sold 257,120 units in Mar. U.S. sales to rank as the No. 5 video game hardware for the month.
