According to Bethesda’s Peter Hines, Fallout 3 was “stable and fairly bug-free”. This is despite many players’ experiences with the game, which seemed to have shipped with a whole multitude of glitches.
Its follow-up, New Vegas, was also criticised for its instability – although, to be fair, we didn’t spot that many. In fact, we thought the game was rather excellent, awarding it an
8.9 out of 10 score and our
Game of the Year accolade. Hines said he feels that, for a game of Fallout 3′s size and scope, the development team did a great job of ensuring the tech was stable.Obsidian, too, did a good job of their game despite the glitches, he added. “We have done a lot of work with Obsidian to try and address the issues as you mentioned, and I think we’ve done a pretty good job of that. I certainly don’t think it’s indicative of the level of quality of the product that we put out.”
The comments come in an
interview with VG247, published today.
“Every game is different and every development process is gonna be different,” he concluded, “but we have always, and will always, continue to strive for delivering to people the best game possible. That includes stability and performance and all of those things.”
