Αμφιβάλλω... κι άλλες φορές έχουν κατεβάσει το PSN δεν κάναν κι έτσι... :p
Αλλά εντάξει. Ίσως να θέλουν να το προετοιμάσουν για την έκρηξη από κατεβάσματα, αφού είναι το πιο πολυαναμενώμενο firmware.

"2.40 was supposed to come out June 18th actually...till they found a pretty bad error with the XMB and had to fix it. New date is supposedly July 2ndish, maybe the 1st or 3rd. The RC release for 2.40 is already out though so it's just a matter of time."

"Not that I really have to prove myself, but here's an image I'm sure no one's seen yet on the trophy system, just to show that I actually do have access to 2.40. I did white out the PSN ID though since obviously it could be troublesome if someone saw.

"It's not fake, but yeah, that's how the trophy system is looking like so far. I'm hoping it'll only look that way for that section of the PSN member info. The trophies themselves hopefully will look like how they do in the Home videos."

"The last memo to come in was on June 12th, that pushed back 2.40 from June 18th to July 1st-3rd. I would say to expect it then unless they were to find something wrong the with RC version that is out right now."

"It won't be complete XMB access. You can for the most part play music and send messages, the only other option I've actually found that worked with the current build that was out was that you could add a bluetooth device. Every other option asked you to quit the game before being able to do anything else. "

You've probably read our Firmware 2.40 post (if not, do!), where we go in depth with the new in-game XMB and Trophies system, but there's nothing quite like seeing it in motion. Thankfully, the second Firmware 2.40 video is up now on the PlayStation.Blog and, this time, Eric Lempel guides you through the wonderful world of Trophies.
Μετά τα δύο videos του PS Blog, μάθαμε αρκετά σήμερα σχετικά με το FW 2.40 και τις λειτουργίες του. Πρόκειται για το σημαντικότερο update που παίρνουμε μετά από πολύ καιρό (από το FW 1.80 συγκεκριμένα).
Τι μάθαμε σήμερα όμως?
Περί In-Game XMB:
- Στο In-Game XMB απεικονίζεται κανονικά ολόκληρο το XMB του PS3, κάποιες λειτουργίες όμως (αναπαραγωγή video, φωτογραφιών, voice chat, κτλ) δεν είναι διαθέσιμες αφού θα πρέπει να βγείτε από το παιχνίδι για να τις χρησιμοποιήσετε.
- Custom Soundtracks για τα υποστηριζόμενα παιχνίδια. Τα παιχνίδια που κυκλοφορούν ήδη θα πρέπει να αναβαθμιστούν με κάποιο patch για να μπορέσουν να υποστηρίξουν αυτήν την λειτουργία.
- Πάνελ ελέγχου της μουσικής για τα Custom Soundtracks
- Πλήρης πρόσβαση στην Friends List
- Πρόσβαση στην κατηγορία "Accessory Settings" για ρύθμιση του BT headset κατά την διάρκεια του παιχνιδιού. Επίσης, οι ρυθμίσεις για την δόνηση και τον καθορισμό των slots του χειριστηρίου γίνονται πλέον από εδώ.
- Δυνατότητα να λανσάρετε ένα παιχνίδι που βρίσκεται στον δίσκο ενώ παίζετε ένα άλλο.
- Το In-Game XMB φαίνεται να τρέχει το ίδιο ομαλά με το κανονικό XMB.
Περί Trophies (τρόπαια):
- 4 είδη Τρόπαιων: Αργυρό, Ασημένιο, Χρυσό και Πλατινένιο.
- Τα Αργυρά τρόπαια μπορείς να τα αποκτήσεις με τον λιγότερο δυνατό κόπο, τα Ασημένια αποκτούνται λίγο δυσκολότερα, τα Χρυσά είναι τα δυσκολότερα και τα Πλατινένια αποκτούνται μόνο όταν κάποιος συγκεντώσει όλα τα άλλα τρόπαια σε ένα παιχνίδι.
- Το προφίλ κάθε εγγεγραμμένου χρήστη στο PSN θα "κρατάει" όλα τα τρόπαια του.
- Κάθε είδος τρόπαιου έχει και διαφορετική "αξία" που προστίθεται στο συνολικό επίπεδο (level) του κάθε χρήστη. Τα Πλατινένια έχουν την μεγαλύτερη αξία και παίζουν μεγάλο ρόλο στο leveling, τα Χρυσά ακολουθούν κτλ κτλ.
- Όλα τα παιχνίδια θα έχουν περιορισμούς στον αριθμό των τρόπαιων που θα μπορούν να προσφέρουν. Τα "μεγάλης κλίμακας" παιχνίδια θα περιέχουν περισσότερα τρόπαια ενώ τα "μικρότερης κλίμακας" παιχνίδια λιγότερα τρόπαια σε αριθμό ενώ επίσης δεν θα μπορούν να προσφέρουν Πλατινένια τρόπαια.
- Τα Τρόπαια εμφανίζονται στο XMB.
- Mερικά Τρόπαια μπορεί να είναι κρυφά αν οι developers το επιθυμούν.
- Υπάρχει δυνατότητα σύγκρισης των δικών σας τροπαίων με αυτά των φίλων σας.
- Τα παιχνίδια θα χρειάζονται patch για να υποστηρίξουν τα Τρόπαια (το SSHD θα είναι το πρώτο παιχνίδι που θα τα υποστηρίζει)
- Δεν θα σας δωθούν Τρόπαια σε παιχνίδια βάση του save file σας.
- First-party παιχνίδια που θα υποστηρίζουν Trophies:
* BUZZ! Quiz TV
* LittleBigPlanet
* MotorStorm Pacific Rift
* NBA 09
* PAIN
* PixelJunk Eden
* Resistance 2
* SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation
* Warhawk

- Προσθήκη Google Search στο XMB
- Προσθήκη πάνελ ελέγχου μουσικής στο ΧΜΒ.
- Εμφάνηση ημερομηνίας & ώρας με το πάτημα του PS button.

June 30, 2008 - The moment that everyone has been waiting for is finally upon us. With the release of firmware update 2.40, Sony will finally add features like in-game XrossMediaBar access, custom soundtracks and Trophies to the PlayStation 3. Greg and I had a chance to see the update in action a few days ago, and based on what we saw, you should be excited. Read on for details, and look for our personal impressions at the end.
Perhaps the biggest part of the update for some folks is the ability to access the XrossMediaBar while playing a game. We're not talking about a scaled-down version of the XMB here - the whole thing pops up when you hit the PS button. A fair number of features will ask you to quit the game to use them, like hitting up the PlayStation Store, starting a movie or changing your display settings, but everything is accessible. For stuff that does ask you to quit, the PS3 will take you right to the option when you choose to leave the game. So, if you choose to head into the PlayStation Store and do opt to quit the game you're playing, you won't have to scroll back over to the PS Store icon a second time; it'll take you there automatically after quitting.
PS3 Trophies Not Applied To Old Saves

The folks over at PS3 Fanboy are reporting that older PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network games patched for support of the new trophy system, which goes live with firmware 2.40 this Wednesday, will not award trophies retroactively. The system will not scan older saves and award you trophies based on your progress. This means that you will essentially have to go back through and play the game all over again in order to earn your much-deserved Sony achievement points.
The reasoning behind this? I can go to several websites right now and download completed saves for any number of PS3 titles and pop them right onto my system, just like that. Suddenly everyone would have perfect award scores for everything, chaos would ensue, and eventually fans would burn Sony offices all over the world to the ground. Armageddon is not nearly as fun as it sounds.

Μια χαρα και το κανενε ετσι για τον λογο ακριβος που αναφερει. Μην μπορει να παρει ο καθενας απο αλλουνου save και το περναει στο συστημα του. Θα ηταν τρομερο λαθος αυτο.
Αποτι εχω δει ομως πρεπει να αναγνωριζει τουλαχιστον αυτα ειναι save protected,κ καποια εχουν τα στοιχια του προφιλ στο save.
