Το κόστος του PS3 στα 400$ !!!

Στο παρακάτω αρθράκι λέει μερικά ενδιαφέροντα πραγματάκια μεταξύ των οποίων:
Ezawa applauds Sony's efforts to shrink the PS3's chips and tweak its design. Already such changes have cut the cost per machine to around $400 now, from above $800 just before it went on sale in November, 2006, he says.

Σε ένα χρόνο η Σόνυ έριξε το κόστος του PS3 στο μισό, κατά 400 δολλάρια δλδ! Με αυτούς τους ρυθμούς μέχρι το καλοκαίρι πολύ πιθανόν να έχει ρίξει κι άλλο το κόστος, αρκετά για μια καινούρια πτώση τιμής! Μην ξεχνάμε πως η ενδεχόμενη χρήση 65nm chip θα σημαίνει λιγότερες απαιτήσεις σε απαγωγή θερμότητας, λόγω χαμηλότερης κατανάλωσης ρεύματος, άρα λιγότερα και φθηνότερα υλικά, ενώ και η διαφαινόμενη κυριαρχία του Blu-Ray θα ρίξει κι άλλο τις τιμές των μερών του drive (σιγουριά λόγω ενός φορμάτ=περισσότερες πωλήσεις=μεγαλύτερος ανταγωνισμός κατασκευαστών μερών).

Developer Leak: World of Warcraft for Consoles

To βλεπω πολυ δυσκολο να γινει κατι τετοιο... Αλλα για να δουμε...
Το μονο σιγουρο ειναι ΕΑΝ κυκλοφορησει θα ειναι πολυ καλυτερο στο χειρισμο στο PS3 γιατι υποστιτιζει Keyboard και mouse.
Παντος μακαρι να μην γινει κατι τετοιο γιατι θα ειναι καταστροφη (καψιμο για πολους) για τους gamers...

Παντος εαν εβγαινε θα το επερνα. Και θα ελιωνα οπως ελιωσα τοσα χρονια στο WoW στο PC... 65 lvl και σταματησα... Δε μπορουσα αλλο ειχα καει παρα πολυ και το πηρα χαμπαρι... Λιγο αργα φυσικα :p

Sony: Fewer, but more significant firmware updates

PlayStation Network director talks future firmware plans

Sony's PlayStation Network director of operations Eric Lempel has told our sister site Next-Gen that we should expect fewer, but more significant firmware updates.

"Many of our upgrades have offered tremendous value to our users so I think they appreciate getting these new features as soon as they are ready," he said during an interview with Next-Gen. "We're certainly going to continue to plan on combining features so we can roll out fewer, but more significant firmware updates.
"With millions of users using our products in different ways and connecting them to a wide variety of equipment, there is the potential, on occasion, that an unforeseen issue will be brought to our attention. We like to take corrective action as fast as possible to ensure our users are having the best experience with our products. The best way for us to do this is through firmware updates. We are looking at ways of making this process easier going forward."

Toshiba Shows Prototype TV Running on PS3 Chip

Here's what happens when you take the powerful Cell microprocessor, the chip that sits at the heart of the PS3, and put it to use inside a television. It's impressive.


What happens when you take the powerful Cell microprocessor, the chip that sits at the heart of the PlayStation 3 games console, and put it to use inside a television? Toshiba is demonstrated just such a TV at this week's International Consumer Electronics Show and the results are impressive.
The Cell chip was developed by Toshiba along with IBM, Sony and Sony Computer Entertainment, and is dedicated to graphics processing. Each chip contains a single Power PC core and eight co-processors to make heavy-duty processing of video a breeze.
While Sony developed the chip for its PlayStation 3, Toshiba invested money in the project with an eye to using the device in consumer electronics products. Until CES, the company hadn't shown a Cell-powered consumer device, but a pair of flat-panel TVs on its booth at the trade show have changed that.
The first and perhaps most relevant benefit of putting the Cell inside a television is the ability to handle real-time upscaling of standard definition TV to high-def. With more and more HDTV channels, we get more and more used to the crisp, sharp quality offered by HD and that makes standard definition look poor. With a Cell-powered TV you'd be able to enjoy regular channels in higher quality much closer to that of HD, said Hiroaki Komaki, a specialist at Toshiba's core technology center in Tokyo.
The upscaling doesn't stop there. The same feature can be used to zoom in on an area of an HDTV picture, enlarge that single area, and then improve it's image quality. Imagine zooming in on a home movie of a sports event and getting closer to the action.
The Cell also makes it possible to easily navigate a number of video channels simultaneously. In a demo at CES, the chip was streaming 48 chapters from a standard-definition video file in real-time, with each appearing as a video thumbnail on the screen. Clicking on one of the clips would bring it up on the lower half of the screen, with 16 chapters still running in the upper half. Another push on the button would move it to full screen.
If the video streams were HD, it would be able to process six in real-time and display them on the screen, said Komaki.
Toshiba still hasn't decided exactly what features it will build into a Cell-based TV, nor has it decided when such a set will go on sale. One thing Toshiba isn't planning on doing is building a PlayStation 3 gaming system into its TVs. The chips may be the same but Komaki said such a combination isn't likely.
The company has been chasing the idea of Cell-based consumer electronics since it signed on with Sony and IBM to develop the chip in 2001.

Διαφωνώ. Και τα δύο έχουν παραπάνω features, ενώ ενδέχεται να είναι και καλύτερα από γραφικά. Ειδικά αν έχεις και DS3 που να το συγκρίνεις με την μπουλντόζα του 360...

Οικονομηκοτερα θες να πεις.

Εμ φυσικα. Τι 3 ευρω τι 60... Σε ελκυει περισσοτερο.

Πάντως εγώ πολύ θα ήθελα ένα folding, αλλά να επεξεργάζεται CT scans (ανώνυμες φυσικά). Ωραίο θα ήταν.

Επειδή βρήκες και σχολίασες αυτά τα δυο, να ξες ότι το Burnout φτιάχτηκε με το PS3 για leading console (κάνοντας έτσι το παιχνίδι ακόμα καλύτερο και για το Xbox) και το DMC4 όλοι λένε ότι η έκδοση του PS3, παίζει ακριβώς το ίδιο με το 360, αν όχι και καλύτερα.

Αφού τα παίρνεις όλα original δεν έχει λόγο να μη τα πάρεις για PS3 (αφού τα παίρνεις τα Multiplatform δεν βοηθάς αν δεν τα πάρεις για Ps3 όπου θα παίζουν και καλύτερα. Δηλαδή στο PS2 δεν έχεις παίξει τίποτα που να μην είναι exclusive; Ήμαρτον!)

Οντως αυτη τη λογικη του ''μονο exclusive'' δεν την καταλαβανω.
Δηλαδη GTA δεν θα παιξεις georgios?
