All the while this is happening, the game retains an astonishing level of visual fidelity. There is no switching from gameplay graphics to pre-rendered cut-scene graphics or anything like that - everything runs in real time. Inside the building, the cut-scene ends and you're suddenly in charge of searching for an exit

So, what's The Order like to play? The five or so minutes of gameplay available rekindle memories of Gears of War, with a dash of Naughty Dog's Uncharted and a twist of Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain. Ready at Dawn's alternative Victorian London is an incredibly detailed but dank and grey place. That's the nature of the 19th Century London beast, of course.
Still, The Order gets away with it because the graphics on show are as good as anything seen on a console, and it's clear the developer has spent a great deal of time trying to make each scene live up to this "filmic" look - complete with black bars above and below the image.

While no-one can dispute that the game's graphics are hot, though, the feel of the gunplay leaves me cold. The weapons feel lightweight and the bullets they fire even lighter, and it seems the AI enemies don't always react to being shot with the force you'd expect.

From what I've played, then, The Order's combat is perfectly serviceable but also forgettable. Having a seamless filmic experience, or whatever you want to call it, is all well and good, but The Order is a third-person shooter at its core, and right now there's nothing about the combat that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and demands you play more. For all the visual effects on show, the shooting lacks spark.

The demo we sampled was very short. Over within a matter of minutes, we get the distinct feeling that the game's creator is still holding out for a much bigger splash closer to the game's launch.

If nothing else, the demo confirms that The Order really does look as impressive in action as it does in those spectacular videos - there's no trickery involved. It's a visual masterpiece. But this was the E3 demo's only notable feature.
Is Ready At Dawn holding back on us? Is it too early to be demanding bigger fireworks? Will it even matter? So impressive are the visuals of The Order 1886 that its technical prowess alone may justify dropping £50/$60. But we're really hoping that eye candy won't be its sole selling point.
Επισης απο το kotaku, το video εχει ολο το gameplay που ειδαμε πριν λιγες ημερες, αλλα και ακομα μερικες σκηνες, ενω ειναι και σε καλη ποιοτητα.Quote:
The weapon showcased in the E3 demo is big on particle effects - almost like it was designed to be a technical showcase for PS4...
You know, when we developed that gun we had a few ideas we threw away before we thought of the thermite ammo. We thought it'd be a cool science. We got really excited in the design sense, but then we went to talk to a software engineer and they were like, 'that sounds really difficult to do'. And the effects artists were like, 'You wanna do what? You want to atomize a cloud of something that's all moving and floating and you wanna set it on fire and it's going to spark everywhere?'. I think when we started to tap into next-gen GPU particle systems we were more confident to try it out. We got excited about the challenge. Some of our best stuff comes from when we're scared of doing something, and then it's like, 'We gotta do this'.

The Order: 1886 Dev Defends 30 FPS, says "24 FPS Doesn't Feel Good, 60 FPS Changes Aesthetic"
Quote:
Dana Jan, game director on The Order: 1886 explained to Kotaku why they selected 30 FPS figure for the game.
"60 fps is really responsive and really cool. I enjoy playing games in 60 fps," Jan told me. "But one thing that really changes is the aesthetic of the game in 60 fps. We're going for this filmic look, so one thing that we knew immediately was films run at 24 fps. We're gonna run at 30 because 24 fps does not feel good to play. So there's one concession in terms of making it aesthetically pleasing, because it just has to feel good to play.
The Order: 1886′s Studio Ready at Dawn Hires Two Developers Affected by Sony Santa Monica Layoffs

Thanks to Linkedin we can see that Character Technical Artist Adrian Rodriguez and Animator Fabian Johnston, who were laid off from Sony Santa Monica back in February, now work at Ready at Dawn, where they can apply their expertise to The Order: 1886.
