PlayOn has just come out with a new beta program that will work for your PS3 and Xbox 360. The beta allows you to stream and watch internet TV sites, which includes, Hulu, CBS, YouTube, ESPN and more. They’ll even be supporting Netflix in the near future. (great news for PS3 owners.)
All you need is a network that connects your console to your Windows PC (sorry Mac owners), and you can watch movies & TV shows right after you Download the program. There is a catch however, the first 60 days are free, but than after that it’ll set you back $30. Read the instructions after the break.
1. Sign up (http://www.themediamall.com/signupforplayonbeta/) to become an official Beta tester.
2. Download and install PlayOn on your Windows XP or Vista PC (you will be instructed how to download after signing up for the Beta testing).
3. Turn on your home-networked game console and find the PlayOn Media Server.*
4. Watch Hulu and YouTube on your TV!
5. Check out the User Guide (http://www.themediamall.com/playon) for further assistance.
* On the PS3, the PlayOn Server can be found under the XrossMediaBar > “Video”. Make sure “Media Server Connection” is enabled under Settings > Network Settings. On the Xbox 360, PlayOn is displayed under the Dashboard > “Media” Blade > “Videos” Category. You may have to select “Change Video Source” if you were previously connected to a different server.
It seems pretty simple, I would think this is more beneficial for PS3 owners, mainly becasue the 360 will already have Netflix support down the road.
