Sony Computer Entertainment Enters Into An Agreement With Kojima Productions

The First Software Title Created by the Newly Formed Kojima Productions will be Console Exclusive to PlayStation�4 System

(SCE) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Kojima Productions, a newly formed studio by the acclaimed game designer Hideo Kojima, to develop its first software title as a console exclusive to the PlayStation�4 (PS4™) computer entertainment system.

Διαβαζω στο neogaf, οτι ηταν να ανακοινωθει στην PSX, αλλα η "Fuck you Konami"TM το εμποδισε, οπως εκανε με την παρουσια του Kojima στα βραβεια.

Χάρηκα πολύ και εγώ για τα νέα.
Προετοιμαστείτε πάντως για πολυυυυυυυ περίμενε!
Ο Kojima δεν είναι γνωστός για το πόσο γρήγορα κυκλοφορεί τα παιχνίδια, αλλά για την τελειομανία του.
Αυτό σημαίνει πολύς χρόνος developing. Η Konami δεν τον άφησε όσο ήθελε στο mgsv και αυτό φάνηκε στο τελικό αποτέλεσμα.

Θέλω να πιστεύω οτι η Sony θα το καταλάβει αυτό και δεν θα τον πιέσει με τους χρόνους...

Σπουδαια νεα, αλλα ο Κοτζιμα δεν "μπηκε" στην Σονυ οπως καποιοι ειπαν σε αλλο θρεντ. Απλα η πρωτη του συνεργασια/παραγωγη θα ειναι αποκλειστικη για την Σονυ. Προς το παρον διατηρει την ανεξαρτησια του και αυτο για εμενα ισως ειναι και το καλυτερο.

Περιμενω με αγωνια να δω τις φρεσκιες ιδεες του!

Καλη αρχη του ευχομαι, αξιζει σε αυτον τον ανθρωπο να αποκτησει την ελευθερια να φτιαξει οτι θελει. Και ναι να μην βιαστει καθολου!

Θέλω να πιστεύω οτι η Sony θα το καταλάβει αυτό και δεν θα τον πιέσει με τους χρόνους...

Πολλα μπορει να προσαψει καποιος στην Sony αλλα τουλαχιστον γι'αυτο δεν υπαρχει καλυτερος publisher/χρηματοδοτης. Δινουν ελευθερια και χρονο που κανεις αλλος δεν δινει.
Τεραστια συνεργασια και νομιζω μια λογικη εξελικη μιας και ουτε τα χρηματα εχει για να κανει κατι μονος του ουτε τον εβλεπα να παει προς MS μερια. Προσωπικα χαιρομαι που απ οτι φαινεται παει στην λογικη ενος ΑΑΑ παιχνιδιου μιας και πολλα ειχαν αρχισει να ακουγονται για το πoιο θα ειναι το επομενο βημα, για indie games, για kickstarter κτλ.
Ο Kojima πρεπει να κανει μεγαλες παραγωγες, αν οχι αυτος τοτε ποιος?
Πολυ καλη συγκυρια, χωρις Konami, χωρις MGS και με υποστηριξη απο την Sony.

Lead designer του Κοτζιμα εδω και δεκαετιες. Το δεξι του χερι. Σχεδιαστης χαρακτηρων, mechs , γενικα τα παντα, με μοναδικο στυλ που δεν εχω δει αλλον να εχει παρομοιο.

Σε 6 μήνες το 4 έκανε 5 εκ. Το 5 έχει ήδη κάνει 5 εκ αλλά σε παραπάνω συστήματα.

Γνωριζουμε οτι day 1 εκανε διπλασιο τζιρο απο το Avengers Age of Ultron, οποτε δεν νομιζω οτι δεν ηταν πετυχημενο Launch.

Έτσι και αλλιώς (αν δεν κάνω λάθος) το metal gear ανήκει στην konami που μάλιστα έχει δηλώσει πως θα το συνεχίσει εμμέσως πλην σαφώς (αν κάνω λάθος διορθώστε με)
Άρα εξυπακούεται πως θα ασχοληθεί με κάτι καινούργιο και αν κρίνω από το pt μιλάμε για μεγάλα πράγματα........pt είπα....... Λέτε τελικά να υλοποιηθεί ή συνεργασία με τον del toro;;;;;

Καποιος στο neogaf ελεγε οτι η MS θα πρεπει να ερθει σε συμφωνια με την Konami ετσι ωστε μελλοντικα metal gear να ειναι exclusive στο xbox ΧΑΧΑΧΑ, λες και η συμφωνια με το tomb raider δεν ηταν αρκετα κακη , και χρειαζονται μια ακομη χειροτερη.

Νεα μηχανη + νεο IP + Kojima = Για PS5 launch title το βλεπω:P

Σχετικα με την ειδηση, και προσωπικα μιλωντας, ψιλο χεστηκα που θα παει ο Kojimas:c055gfe: Πριν αρχισετε να βαρατε, να εξηγησω οτι δεν με συγκινει καθολου το Metal Gear σαν παιχνιδι. Εχω παιξει συνολο 30 λεπτα στο PS3 και αλλα 5 λεπτα στο PS4. Και αυτο ηταν.

Του αναγνωριζω παντως οτι το κατεχει στον τεχνικο/οπτικο τομεα, οποτε ενα console exclusive για το PS4, ειναι σιγουρα καλο νεο.

μα δεν θα εχει νεα μηχανη, γιαυτο μαλλον πανε σε ετοιμη μηχανη, για να γλυτωσει και το χρονοβορο σταδιο της αναπτυξης της.

Ναι δεν το εθεσα σωστα. Ετοιμη μηχανη μεν η Unreal αλλα θα χρειαστουν παραπανω χρονο να την φερουν στα μετρα τους, απο την FOX Engine που λογικα την παιζουν στα δαχτυλα.

Ενθουσιασμός για το νεο στούντιο αλλα οχι για την συνεργασία. Θα ενθουσιαζομουν αν ειχαμε νεα ''ND'' απο τον kojima μεσα στη sony.:p

Ηταν τοσα πολλα χρονια στην Konami , εγινε αυτο που εγινε, οποτε δεν νομιζω οτι θα εμπαινε στην διαδικασια να ειναι ξανα studio ενος μεγαλου publisher, ασχετως του ποσο καλη φημη εχει η sony σαν Publisher.
In other news τωρα που κοβω βολτες στην ελληνικη gaming σκηνη, βλεπω οτι η πλειοψηφια του κοσμου το βλεπει σαν τρομερη κινηση της sony που πηρε τον kojima απο την Konami. Aγνοουν δηλαδη οτι οι μεταξυ τους σχεσεις ηταν κακιστες εδω και παρα πολλους μηνες, και οτι ο kojima παρεμενε απλα μεχρι να ληξει το συμβολαιο του, πραγμα που εγινε χθες.

Eιναι πολυ σημαντικο νεο (κυριως το οτι ανεξαρτητοποιηθηκε βασικα αν και το ξεραμε βεβαια) αλλα οπως ειπε και ο Βαγγελης δεν ειναι και κανα megaton ουτε κατι τοσο huge για την Sony, δεν εγινε καμια αγορα του studio ουτε εγινε μερος της Sony. Μια συνεργασια ειναι οπως το Street Fighter V, απ οτι λενε και οι ιδιοι το παιχνιδι αυτο θα βγει και σε pc καποια στιγμη. Απλα λογω του ειδικου βαρους του Kojima εστω μια console exclusivity κανει αλλη αισθηση.
Για μενα δεν ειναι τοσο φοβερο για την sony, οσο γενικα για την βιομηχανια οτι ο Kojima πια ειναι ανεξαρτητος και φτιαχνει κατι νεο μετα απο δεκαετιες ενασχολησης με το Metal gear.

Επισης ακουγεται οτι θα εχει σαν βαση την Unreal Engine, Καθως η Fuck Konami, εχει τα δικαιωματα και για την Fox Engine του Kojima.

Μου ζητήθηκε να το σβήσω το παραπάνω ποστ ... oh well. Μου είπανε ότι ήτανε reactive PR αυτό (σε περίπτωση δηλαδή που ρώταγε κάποιος) Παρόλα αυτά το email δεν έλεγε reactive PR, έλεγε ποστάρετε το όπου μπορείτε.

Αντε να δουμε τι θα φτιαξει , εχω μεγαλη περιεργεια, επισης δεν ξερω για ποιο λογο, αλλα πιστευω οτι θα ηθελε να δοκιμασει κατι σε VR.

Are you more interested in making a game with a really strong narrative, or really strong gameplay?

Both, because people expect both from me. I want to do something that gives a lot of freedom and interactivity. Like I did in the past, I want to make something that has a very strong, dramatic story. That's what people want from me and that's what I want to do. It would be so much easier if I could give priority to one or the other, but people expect both from me. At this point, it would be easier to make a linear game, but that's not…

It's risky, because we're just starting up, so it probably would be better to go with something smaller-scale, maybe linear, but Sony is supporting us to make a big game that's edgy with a strong story that gives the player a lot of freedom, with new elements, and I don't know if that's possible. But we'll see.

Why Kojima Productions is making its first title with Sony…

Kojima: “Offers came in from all over the world, but these places use a Hollywood system, and I don’t like doing detailed presentations. From there, I wondered who would put their faith in me with just a rough concept, and SIE was who I was looking for. We get quite a lot of freedom and they’re really easy to work with.”

Είχε προτάσεις από παντού αλλά προτίμησε τη Sony λόγω σχέσεων και ιδιοσυγκρασίας. Σίγουρα κάποια απόπειρα θα έκανε και η MS αλλά έπεσε στο κενό.


Regarding the new game…

Kojima: “It’s an amazing game. We’re thinking about everything all at once, including the plot, characters, and game systems. Since certain parts are fairly new, we cannot help but experiment.

“While not to say that it’s open-world, users who enjoy today’s AAA games (The Division and Uncharted, etc.) will be able to easily enjoy it. When it is announced, you might think ‘that’s not that outstanding,’ but you’ll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action.”

Αυτό είναι πολύ καλό νέο. Δείχνει ότι δεν θα πρόκειται για κάτι με μικρό budget και επίσης κάτι που θα έχει και story άρα όχι προχειροπράγματα. Το μόνο κακό είναι ότι δεν πρόκειται για το P.T που δεν έγινε ποτέ!

Hideo Kojima has confirmed that his first post-Konami game will use a third-party engine, and that his well-documented trips to meet creatives - in video games and otherwise - have at least in part been to find which tools his new project will utilise.

Speaking at the Nordic Game 2016 festival (http://nordicgame.com/kojima-live-stream-ng16/), Kojima explained that in order to ensure a timely release for the new Kojima Productions' debut, he had to go against his preferred methods:

"I actually think it's better to make games using internal tools," Kojima said. "As for my first title, because I want to release it to the people who are waiting for it, for that title we are going to use a third-party engine - the reason I am travelling around the world is looking for such technology to use."

Kojima has previously said that he and PS4 architect, Mark Cerny were"searching for the newest technology" (http://uk.ign.com/articles/2016/01/20/hideo-kojima-and-jj-abrams-meet-up-to-talk-tech), but it's not been clear exactly what that meant until today.
Kojima's tour has seen him visit Quantic Dream (currently working on a new engine), and CryEngine creators Crytek, among others.

Δεν θα μου κανει καθολου εντυπωση να βγει PS4 NEO Exclusive. Και μη μου πειτε οτι η Sony δηλωσε (φημες γιατι επισημα δεν ξερουμε τιποτα) οτι πρεπει το παιχνιδι να βγαινει και στο τωρινο PS4. Μεχρι να το βγαλει ο Kojimaς πολλα μπορουν να αλλαξουν.

Τώρα βγάζει περισσότερο νόημα το tour που κάνει σε όλο τον κόσμο. Δεν ψάχνει μόνο τεχνολογία (που στον τομέα των μηχανών λογικά δεν έχει και πάρα πολλές επιλογές) - ψάχνει και να υιοθετήσει τη νοοτροπία των δυτικών studios.

You can expect to see the full interview tomorrow, but while we wait for that to land, here's what he had to say (via a translator) about his plans on keeping the studio relatively small, and thus efficient.

"I'm aiming to keep the staff less than 100 people," he said, before adding later: "I am searching for technology and at the same time hiring new people, and visiting the (...) studio to get inspiration about what kind of studio I want to make/create."


He then joked about what he had seen on his travels. "I've found that at any studio the kitchen is very important... I saw at DICE in Stockholm they had 40 microwaves, and also there's so many coffee makers, and I understood that that is very important."


Then Kojima-san discussed his plans moving forward, at which point he made one of few the references to his past work at Konami. "At the time of the Metal Gear Solid the staff was over 200 people, something like this..."


The translator continued, later adding: "He wants to connect to the developers directly... So it will be around 100 people, but not more. Keep it that size."


After that we were treated to an analogy where he compared the situation in Hollywood where up to 1000 people can work on a movie, but with so many people there can be communication issues, framing the point around a glass of water. Who is it for? How much water do they want to drink? It can be hard to work out exactly what is needed without direct contact between staff.

"We aim to make a kind of small, intimate type of studio, and I felt like Media Molecule in London is quite similar to what I'm trying to make," the former Konami developer told us via his translator.

Kojima then went on to discuss how many Japanese studios have a macho culture, with middle-aged men handing orders down through the ranks (he likens it to the military). This is obviously not something he wants to replicate with his own endeavour.


"At Media Molecule... it looks like the kitchen is the most important part," he said, once again remarking on another studio's cooking facilities, "and there are quite many female people working too, so it's kind of a strange feeling."


The more balanced workforce clearly resonated with him, because he then mentioned it had a "very, very familiar feeling at the studio, and that is what I want to create."

Hideo Kojima: I'll admit I received numerous offers. But for our first title, I wanted to ensure that we would be under the best conditions. I've maintained for a while now a wonderful relationship with Sony, with absolute trust between us, which allows me to focus on the creative aspects. Working with another partner would definitely have required more time on the non-game development tasks. It would have taken time for contract negotiations, and I don't think things would have happened as quickly as they have to date. Working with Sony also afforded me a lot of freedom, and their support has been exceptional.

For example, if this had been with a "normal" company, right now, I'd be preparing a pitch for my game, we'd be looking for financing, explaining what we wanted to do. Like with a Kickstarter.

With Sony, of course I have to explain my plan to them, but they immediately told me "go for it, do you what you have to do." They offered me their trust. All the energy that would have gone into the project pitch, I could focus it on the creation of the project itself. That makes a real difference.
